how do i know if i got a mentor or not? i put a post on the sign up sheet but where do i get a noticed about my mentor if any?

Well you should post a request for what you want to be mentored in in the "mentor signup" post. And hope that there is a person willing to take you onboard.
There is also alot of classes and things you can look at and do the same assignments. "Classroom for all" is a good start for anyone!
