Looks good, nice and diverse, a lot of different works and ideas in here. I particularly like http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1235608072 cool style and i like comics. Great life drawing class studies there int he beginning of your sb, there's a lot and their pretty good, shading could be more solid but al in all decent, the portrait on page 3 at the very bottom is great, i d like to see you finish it, along with some others. Also like to see more digital work and practice.

You're improving greatly! Your gestures have become much more expressive and true to form! You also are working your sketches much more evenly, laying down all your neccesary info before moving on. Hell yeah! keep it up and post MOAR! I loved the Catwoman marker work. Post #72 if i remember correctly. Rawk awn!

    Hey Troub,

Since you asked me to have a look I've gone over your entire sketchbook and I have some suggestions but first I just want to say there is a nice steady progression in your art and you seem to be on the right track, now, some pointers.

    1st: Presentation.
Stop cropping everything just at the edge of your drawings, give your pieces some room to breath and people who look at your stuff a chance to appreciate the pieces. There's a couple of little things that just makes otherwise well executed sketches etc. hard to read, the edge being one, color contrast being another, blue lines on a blue background? Not a good idea, especially when there is no apparent reason for it. These are just a couple of examples though, just think about the presentation and clarity, if you want people to give you proper critiques make sure that they can read your pieces.

Besides this sketchbook though, making those strange design decisions makes me inclined to suggest that you study compositions and layout, when you see artwork that speaks to you and that you like, make sure to look a second time and see what it is about the perspective and placement of elements that appeals to you while ignoring the rendering or subject matter.

    2nd: Depth, form, whachemacallit.
This one is a bit tricky to explain but a lot of your drawings look flat, I know they are 2D illustrations but your job is to trick the eye into believing there are shapes where there really only are lines and smudges on a surface, there are some good examples of depth like some of the Chainsawrex drawings and hedgehog but even they could be pushed further. Either you get lost in the lines and forget about the dimensions or you shade here and there where you think shades "should" be placed. What you should do instead is visualizing the shape in your mind, twist and turn it, feeling the shape. When you think about it the head is nothing more then a deformed egg with its bumps and indentations. Don't just throw some shadows on, know where the light source(s) are in your mind or mark them on the papers. Then put shadows where something blocks the light source, drastic shadows from limbs thrown on the body itself

    3d: Pay attention, push yourself.
You are your own best teacher, I see a general progression in your work but if you want to you can push yourself further, a strange issue that I find from the start to the finish of the sketchbook are your face silhouettes, while your faces improve from a straight forward angle your silhouettes more or less stay the same, fixing that is as simple as doing a bunch of studies of that subject every day, if you want to include human heads in your illustrations then just study the human head from all angles until you understand it in three dimensions, as an example you can slowly guide your hand over your own head in front of the mirror and really think about what is going on both visually and physically, all the indentations and bumps, how turning the head changes what you see etc.

Simply put, just look around you and really pay attention, just stop caring about what is and isn't proper behavior and just enjoy it and think about what is going on, how the light play on everything you see, and what you need to do to understand it. If you need to spend a week studying a particular shadow by sitting under your desk and study the light your computer makes on the cords behind it then just do it. Whether you are painting or drawing those are the shapes you are trying to trick the eye into seeing, if you can decode your own eye then you can trick other peoples eyes as well.

    4th: Attitude
Less time being tired of things and people, more time doing studies and f*****g enjoying it.

Anyhow, that's just what I think, keep drawing, having fun, updating and hope that every now and then something someone says make some sort of sense to you, in the end this is your own private journey of art.

The cats are awesome! The shading is great, too. The rabbit's chin on the right on the last picture looks a little bit weird, though. Anyways, your work is amazing.
Tom was a glittering hero once more—the pet of the old, the envy of the young. His name even went into immortal print, for the village paper magnified him. There were some that believed he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging.

That elephant a while back totally make me remember the bad nightmares I had after watching the Dumbo sequence when they all seems to be on LSD

But else good! Like your baboon, and your donkey in particular. Great studies going on here, and the otter is just too randomly cute not to mention. The work you did with the dino shows you can take an idea and keep working on it, but it kind of shows when you're working from refs and when you're not, if I get it right. Keep cranking at it, you're going the right way from what I see!

Edit: was gonna give you feedback on Sleipnir, then I remebered I already did! Lol!

Guess it's been said before but the improvements in this SB are great Especially your pen drawings are really nice, hope to see much more of those.

However, it might be good to work on your perspective more. Like with those studies of your tv/consoles and the laptop it's really apparent that you need to work on that, but it also shines through in some of your figure drawings and creatures and stuff. You tend to shift to side or front views with heads for example, making them look flat, while the rest of the body is in perspective. Foreshortening also seems to give you trouble here and there. Try to figure out where objects are in relation to each other in space and in relation to the vanishing points and horizon and construct it a little more that way I'd suggest.

    Anyway, keep em coming

thanks robertb and yoits, those perspective pieces were supposed to be simplistic, the teacher was a fine artist visiting from belgium, but not making excuses my perspective does need a lot of work D: i just have a high distaste for it ;P

    here's some more works folks.

the ONE decent painting from all year

one of the three illustrations from my final of the year. 3 billy goats gruff gone asian. The other 2 are too big for the scanner and one is somewhat unfinished 9_9 but heres a sneak
