I like that first one, it's just, well, awesome. Critiques? Hmm, well maybe I stopped by too soon, it does seem like these need more time spent on them, but then, it is a sketchbook. I'll try to stop by later.

jack,
this's a real gem of a thread you've got here. your grey piece with the downtrodden guy is beautiful and your sketches have a lot of energy to them, the cowboy is really nice. very cool stuff, can't wait to see more
thank you for the kind words Movenski, I liked the images on your site and your sketchbook, too bad you have been away from the sketch forums for a while..

hey jack, this a very good start for a sketchbook. i can offer some compliments on your first post, i like how simple you made it and the colors that you used. as for crits, some of you sketches in the middle had poor linework or maybe thats how you wanted to make it. but if you improved on your linework it would bring out the shapes that you have created, there fore bringing out the image your trying to show us. i hope this helps![]()

nice stuff here man off to a good start for sure. maybe do some more anatomy studies. and try to emphasize weighted line more. also i'd suggest when coloring digitally use a harder brush so you don't get the dulled down blurry look. also use more lights/darks in your colored pieces. the added contrast will help a lot. keep it up.
To live is to create, to create is to live. Without art and music, I do not know how I would get by in my day to day life.

Great stuff- I really like your line quality, though I do think that it wouldn't hurt your lines to make them a little more bold. Also- don't be scared to use complementary colours in your shading while colouring- it adds a lot of depth to a composition.
thank you for the kind words and suggestions...I do need to work on my anatomy, and the line weight issue I am always playing with

jack
i think the whole "thumbnail" thing is just a labelling thing here on the forum and they're not acutally thumbs.
your vamps neck is looking a bit thick, you might want to carve a bit offa the back and pull the head up at bit in PS with your clone stamp.
the pieta looking one, its a gorgeous pose and your hand laying there is a winner! some crits though, double check the arm coming foreward in space's placement (it looks a bit long) (again you can probably just move it with your clone or C&P) as for the drama i'd add a nice dark in the back to pull those lights foreward and make your figs pop. check out some Caravaggio for prime examples like this http://www.patriziaforlani.it/cat_caravaggio_04.jpg
hope this helps some, there're some really nice ideas going on here, i really like looking at your work and progression.
best,
RM

thanks for the comment t3nox, it is pretty simple to upload your images...
when you start a new thread or a reply (some sections don't have this function like the daily sketch group) you can scroll down a bit and see where the button "manage attachments" resides.
click it and you will get a new window where you can upload your images and once they show that they are uploaded click the close window button. and hit submit reply and you will see your images
cheers

Man, this is great stuff. You draw great figures. I don't have any crits, really. I'd like to see some of them taken to a higher degree of finish, maybe. And maybe some environments or something. But yeah -- good work. I'm impressed. Keep it up.
thank you funfetus for your words of encouragement, I really like your sketch book especial your POW panels, I even started work on some for the POW contests because of yours, I hope we get to see your art grace a major comic publication
I also have to ask again how you get those remarkably clean lines on your panels, that is one part of my work that I am focusing on improving and as you mentioned in your post I am working on landscapes and other drawing topics besides characters...thanks man
some quick updates wip for the most recent finish chow contest, however didn't finish it, I saw posh's entry and I gave up....also the Pegasus was for the CA Daily sketch group
