    ReviseTheMethod's sketchbook - Updated: August 4

    Hey there folks

My name is Mathias Pettersson, and I'm a 16-year-old Swede.
Since an elaborate presentation feels redundant, I'll wrap it up by encouraging you to feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

Wish me luck, and don't go easy on me

    Cheers!

As one might expect, my most recent stuff can be found towards the end of the sketchbook

Nice stuff! I like your pictures, nice linework and anatomy. A tip would be to start working more on a background for your characters, because it'll come back and haunt you later joking.. but it's allways good to start working with that. It's helped me alot.

I can see this skeetchbook going towards niceness.
Or how should I express myself more gramatically incorrect?

Great SB so far, keep it up!

Major Update, General Fuckup and Sergeant Sniffles!

DefiledVisions: Thanks for the advice! =) I've been working on placing characters in an environment, but I haven't gotten a result worth showing yet ^^
I'll make sure to include some in my next batch! =D

    Diphallia:
Thanks for checking it out! =)

Alright, after having left CA.org untouched for a couple of months, I've decided to put up some new stuff and try to be a more active member
Let's hope it works! *crosses his thumbs*

Random doodles and stuff from my sketchbook, a couple of inks, and some rendertests made using photoshop. Enjoy =)

    Update, weee! =)

I just read this phenomenal post in Magic Man's sketchbook, and was inspired to start working much harder than before =)

My wish is that as I work harder, constructive feedback will also occur more frequently in this sketchbook.

    So, until further notice: updatelidoo!

This really hasn't been a good day for art :-/
I've been stressed with a lot of school-related crap to do, so all I managed to do was a page of random sketches, and two really stressed out character-sketches.

The characters serve as a reminder of how much you can fuck up your art if you stress too much :-/

Ah well, I'm still trying to keep it daily
    Cheers!

Alright, another update, but this time it comes with a text ( reading is optional ).

    * Two sketchbook pages
    * The final version of my digital wip, F4T3, along with process- and detail-shots( in the next post )

    Text:
I've run into a bit of a hitch in my art development, mainly caused by an excessive amount of school work, which along with other stress elements blocks my creativity.

Rather than feeling that I'm making progress, I feel like I'm going backwards - producing crappy and stressed stuff, even though I try to relax :-/

I think that I need to get into some sort of practice routine to help me concentrate on improving, but I don't know where to start!

Here's where I need your help
Do you have any art routines that you perform daily? What kind of exercises does it include? Why? Has it helped you? ^^

Any other advice is of course always welcome
    Thanks in advance!

    Alright, here's another update

I'm getting pretty frustrated about the skewed appearance of most of my work, and my inability to notice it until it's too late.
I'll have to get a mirror from somewhere and keep it close at hand at all times

    Alright
Time for a fairly quick value-study of a face that I just did in photoshop.
Unfortunately, I didn't use a reference, since I wasn't planning on doing a study to begin with. :-/

Please beat the crap out of it, and help me improve the quality of my faces and my understanding of values

    Cheers!

really nice values, but the facial construction is off a tad bit. the left eye is really far away form the nose, and should be a bit lower than it appears. the nose is pointing towards the view too much, it should be headed towards the left (perspective thingy).
atleast that is what i see, i can't draw faces so dont take my crit to heart =D
Do not, ever, under any circumstances, not have fun.

jdeegz: Thanks for the heads up!( oh gosh, hilaaaaaarity surely ensues...! ;P )
After reading your critique and looking at it again, I can absolutely see what you mean =)
I couldn't see it earlier - not even when I flipped the image around - but after getting your feedback it became clearer ^^

    Thanks a bunch! =)

Here are some sketches from earlier today. I'm trying to be as hard-working as MorteM, but other stuff( like making websites and schoolwork for example >_< ) keeps getting in the way.

Alright, time for some more updates.
Not pleased with much here really, but I'm sensing an improvement in my hand-work. I'll keep working harder on them until I can nail them

After that I'll have to start working on my ability to notice that my pics look skewed.
Does everyone struggle with this problem, or am I the only one who's able to completely fuck it up without even noticing? :-/
I rarely see other people make skewed stuff, so either I suck ass, or everyone else is using their mirror well

I'm going to get my hands on a mirror, and hopefully that will help me.

    Update

DefiledVisions: Hey mate! Thanks for dropping by =>
Killer stuff in your SB! Great compositions lately

Really? I get the feeling that they're terribly skewed as soon as I flip them over. Something which never happens when I flip around other people's work( and yes, I've tried )
Yep, I'm probably "used" to seeing my piece from a certain direction, but still :-/
    It bothers me
