This Is a figure I tried painting completely from Imagination. I figured if I'm going to do this anatomy work stuff I should probably see where I'm at and then have something to determine if I actually gained any improvement.

This was some crap that I probably should have been spending my time on doing some real anatomy study

I tired using my values the opposite in the first one. I wanted the dark's to be the focal point area.

There once was Queen who ruled her kingdom with greatness and fairness. The people were not manipulated under her rule. The world seemed to have a warm tint well she was alive. Sadly those days have passed on her kingdom. With her death the world seemed to grow a bit colder. Many still visit the statues of her placed around the lands leaving bouquets of flowers. These are the days of the mourning of queen Lilly.

This one took me about 5 hours. I had a lot of little details and such. I feel I did a great job of keeping the focal point and the feel of realer foliage then most of the work but not so much that it looses the composition and variation. I Hope you like it as much as I do. I would totally live here.

wow you have great environment paintings! same goes with your architecture! I love your most recent post. I think you did accomplish your focal point pretty well. Is there any resource like books and ect you would recommend for environment and architecture. Iv been wanting to learn something along the lines of what your making. Thanks and keep it up mannn

Thank you very much yoge for your compliments. I really have never purchased a book for environments. They have just been my favorite thing to paint over the past 5 years of learning and doing art. I would recommend if your trying to learn to paint them to go to a place you like near you. It is always best to learn to paint something starting with what your familiar with. If you live in a grassy plain then go there and sit down with a sketch book and draw what you see. Then draw what you see from a different angle. Then alter things in your environment. Example ... A tree. Make it 3 times larger then the rest of the trees with more branches. I couldn't tell you how many hours I have sat and just looked. I feel that is one of the most important things. Just sit and study and think about the values and how you can manipulate the values. What is the most important part that needs to be the focal or even just detailed. I hope any of that helped.

Except for the last one, all your works have a very unique light situation where the atmosphere seems to become warmer the further away it goes. Usually it becomes colder and more blueish, like in that last ocean piece. The opposite is rare, at least if you want to make it realistic. If your goal is exactly this - I would call it fairy tail atmosphere- than you are just fine. ^^

I like 252 and 253 the most.

Thank you kindly Vaejoun. Yes 253 is one of my favorites as well. I'm definitely thinking of the value range when painting these and as for color theory i'm also trying to use that which I have learned and play off it in ways I feel makes a painting unique in its own way. For instance the last paintings The lagoon. I was trying to make a Tropical scene that was done in cool colors. Usually when you think of the tropics ... at least I think of warm sun on skin, yellow sands, bright green palms but I tried my best to give a tropical feel with the range of cools. I feel it gives it a interestingly unique feel. Thanks for stopping in and giving a comment.

20 min creature concept. I have this brush that makes some random shapes and I just wanted to see If it was worth saving. So It led me to concept a little creature seeing if i could put the random shapes together to make an Idea spark.

Hey there! keep it up! Maybe u could spend more time in anatomy practice, like for #264 think it'll look better with some foreshortening going on for the arms, it looks kinda long IMO. But all your colors and rendering are awesome man, would love to be able to do that.

yongs- Thanks for the compliments. Ya there can never be enough studying of anatomy. I actully think that for 264 the arms just look very lengthy because of the armor design and the tall grass. either way your right that the arms are looking thrown off.

In the 2nd age the prince Merrin under the King Begarin was one of the top hunters in all the land. Many great hunt's were organized under him. He had been known to have killed over 100 various man killers in his kingdom. He was thought of very highly. In the year 307 Merrin disappeared. No trace. Many believed he had shamed his father and was assassinated in silence. Yet records show his father hired the best trackers of the land and offered a 3rd of the kingdoms gold to find his son. Several years later a journal would be found in a the furbishing of the princes room. A stone in which hid several journals on various hunt's and secrets the prince documented. It seemed that within the journal the prince had discovered a link to several royal families being a part of a secret society called the order of the black herring. It was believed that the black herring had a major roll in the funding and over throw of the kingdom in 374. Many royal families that were noted in Merrin's journal are still very wealthy families.

Here is a painting of prince Merrin standing over a Afrid Whelping in 304 3 years before his disappearance. These creatures had extremely great hearing and incredible eye sight. It may not look like much but it was considered a great trophy.
