    First one's interesting, though it could use deeper shadows IMO, and I guess you intended the hole in the hand to look like that.

    Second one is far too big and busy - I can barely tell what's going on. The texture overpowers and obscures it. If you strengthened the outlines and contours and shrunk it down to screen size or less, it might help.

    Have you seen the rules, yet? Starting a sketchbook?
