Hey there, I remember you, you live in PA right? How is the art school search going?
It looks like you've improved quite a bit, nice deku tree

Those renderings on the first page are off the hook. I need to start doing some finished pieces like that, I feel like I spend all my time with speedpaintings and test renders.

I really like what you've been doing with the rake tool...basically all of your fancy brushes. You've got a nice eye for those textures. Keep this stuff going! More! More!
Alright, It's been a really long time since my last update. I just got lazy with scanning and all that stuff. I've still been active throughout the forums however. Now that this whole college search business is over, and I'm finally done with high school, I now have a free summer ahead of me to make some nasty artwork.
I've decided to go to Rochester Institute of Technology to study illustration next year, so I'm pretty pumped for that. Heres a rather large update (for me, anyway) before I head off for the beach tonight. Gonna be there for a week, hopefully I'll be able to update again soon after I get back.
Chriis.zed – Thanks!
Christoffer – Thanks man. Yeah her proportions are really off…I just got lazy and decided to hide behind the poor excuse that it’s a star wars character, so proportions could be whatever.
Jatherip – Thank you!
Dekal – Thanks man your stuff is pretty kick ass too.
Psantha – Wow thanks I appreciate that.
Omerta – Thanks!
AvisNocturna – Thank you, I’ve been trying to put a stronger emphasis on my brush strokes lately.
Craz – Thanks!
LisandroG – Yeah I’m in PA. I’ve decided to go up north to Rochester
Institute of Technology and study illustration there. And I checked out your blog, it looks like you’ve made some great progress as well. Thanks for stopping by
Strela – Haha thanks, It’s funny, I feel like I need to work on speedpaintings and quickening my pace up a bit.
Sketcheth – Thanks man, I’m trying to get into photoshop’s brush system and try to work out something that fits my style.
Trying to work on some new things, branch out into different styles and whatever. Let me know what you think
I've got quite a bit of unfinished work in here, and some more I might put up later.
Heres something quick I did tonight, just tryin out a new sketching brush, not much time spend on either of these.
Thanks for being very careful in your sketches haha. Reminds me that I should do that, instead of rushing! Great stuff.Your anatomy studies are great!

Fucking nice work, dude! You have a good eye for value and color - especially for your age. Just don't slack off on when you get to school. A lot of kids show up, and think they're hot shit and stop working hard.
Im sure you'll be fine though! Keep fighting the good fight!
Cool works!
I have again done much mistakes?

Ok so I just got my laptop for school, and I've done a self portrait to test it out. It took a little while to get into the groove of using a system for painting, but I like the way it turned out. I turned up the contrast a bit, cuz I think the laptop screen kinda makes things look a little different than they are. Let me know if these images seem too dark or light or contrasty or whatever.
I also painted a view from my porch during/right after it rained. I didn't want to get alll distracted with texture brushes and everything so kept it simple with one brush and a blender.
Ok the first sketch was inspired by a book I recently read, "The Terror" by Dan Simmons.
The second is a study from one of Alex Kanevsky's paintings.
good use of blue in the last nude, I'll be taking that idea away with me.
Very very very nice work Pyro!!
Awesome work on those digis! Really liking the energy in them. Thanks for reminding me to get braver with colour choices!
Keep up the great work!
Wow wow wow! This last page seems like a giant leap in a great new direction. Your values are stunning and the studies of the figures have such a rich sense of lighting! It's amazing, man... Keep it up!
Hey please come and check out my work, just join thanks again Nick. great work pyro man all the best x
Retronym thanks dude, but don't credit me with having the idea first
MacTire thanks man!
sketcheth thanks a lot bro, glad to hear the studies have been paying off
Soka145 Hey thanks man, you should start a sketchbook thread and put a link in your sig, then i'll be able to check it out
So I've taken a freelance job illustrating a graphic novel, which is just awesome. I'm so pumped to finally have a job actually making art, it sorta makes me feel like all the studying and work hasn't been for shits and giggles. That's what's been taking most of my time lately, and I won't be able to post artwork from it yetBut I've got some other WIPs and stuff that have faded off into the dust, the dragon piece is the only one I actually finished. Take a look and tell me what you think.
No ref on anything except the bowls, which were a still life
nice stuff, really like the last too, cool brush stroke and concept....
Dan Valkar Thanks man!!
Here's a bit of crap
a fighter study, a ball of skin, and some style experiment
Cool works!
