seems like the schoolwork pays off. The last picture is impressive, I wanna see more new pictures like that!

Those barque drawings are beautiful. And I really, really like the naked mole rat piece. You captured just enough detail in the dress to suggest the fabric and its weight, but not so much that it draws your eye away from the main points of the piece.
Lovely work. Keep it up!

Heeeey, why haven't I checked out this sketchbook now that you've starten your training in Florence??
Your Bargues are very nice, but if you're like me, the things you should really be proud of are those figure drawings! They are very clean and nice, something I'm having problems with... It shows you have the patience to really work that form and keep the paper clean.
I'd just like to point this out:

kidult, thank yousofter edges coming soon! maybe even here already.
a la bapsi, thanks! yes, we mark the spot of the model using tape, and try to make the model stand exactly the same way as before. it's never getting 100% accurately the same pose, though.

Wow those lifedrawings are beautiful!Although I still see some difficulties with the faces. The eye and brow-region still seems to be a problem-zone for you.
But anyways, I'm in love with those quick poses! How long are those each? Are the ones with the very few straight lines the shortest?
Dig the Illustration, too, clean and simple in composition and refinement. Good job!
Thank you Faust!Usually the poses with the few straight lines are the shortest (about 5-10 minutes). Most "quick" poses were 20-40 minutes.
2 week pose repost because photobucket is being a bitch about it:

Hey your art is really inspiring so thanks! but ive got a couple of questions about the academy
what are the language barriers like, i guess most people are speaking english? How competative is it to get in? Whats the social life like, how expensive was it? how long are you there for!
alot of questions, ill go hit google up too.
keep up the hardwork, long way to go but your already well on your way

Wow, too much skills here ! Really nice improvment! Your bargue studies are impressive ! I hope i'll have this level one day ! Cheers
amazing work!
Nrx, thank youTo your questions:
yep, classes are in english & everyone speaks at least some english. most people speak it really well but even if your english isn't very good you'll still understand all the practical exercises.what are the language barriers like, i guess most people are speaking english?
seriously, i have no idea :o but if anyone knows, i'll be the first to ask. xD what i know, though, is that you don't have to be super-super-amazingly skilled to get in. you must, however, demonstrate that you aspire to become super-super-amazingly skilled. if you're dedicated, you'll get in. with my own application, i submitted a couple of works from 2003 and some from 2007/2008 to show my improvement; i guess that worked wellHow competative is it to get in?
it's very good if you're not a deaf kid like me! xD (i have almost no social life here, commuication is so difficult b/c of my bad hearing) people are really nice and cool, and throw parties all the time.Whats the social life like
do you mean tuition? (it's 9,000€ annually), or living costs?how expensive was it?
i'll stay three years, until 2011. after that, there's a so-called graduate program (optional); i don't know yet if it's for me... maybe. it depends on whether i get a scholarship for it, and whether my parents agree to support me any longer or whether i can earn enough money myself...how long are you there for!
WalidD, thank you!
sanddeepbarot, thank you!
Right now I'm working on my first charcoal cast (the hand! *_*) it'll be finished somewhen next month.
aaaaaaand next week we'll move on to our first charcoal figure drawing! OMG OMG MAN i'm so excited!
for now, it's just copying other folks' artwork (great exercises):
(watercolor)
(ink + opaque white)

Hats off!
Hey, I really like the colors in your work and enjoyed browsing your sketchbook. One question I have, the piece called Wiegenlied. The girl in the piece, she seems to be attempting to comfort her baby because their world just went to shit. And she's hurt obviously cuz she's crying. But her facial expression seems extreme different from what you would expect in that situation. I was wondering if there was any thought behind that or if I had just misinterpreted the piece. Keep it up.
Hey Maidith I like you work!! Especially your last sketches!
Btw I'll start at Angel Academy this April
About the question how hard it is to get in - I got in without showing them any work!!! I wanted to, but as I have no god camera nor any idea about taking photos... I bought a camera for 10$ and the result was horrible.... Truly.... So I decided just to take my chances not sending photos and see what would happen - they didn't even mention it!?
But I should say I applied like in the summer for this April spring trimester.
But maybe I was just lucky!
About housing, if not already mentioned be sure to check out http://www.studentsville.eu/
I found a room in a shared Italian apartment for 250€ (bills not included!) But it is very small, 3*3m. One note - Because I didn't speak Italian, they requested to meet me in person, so I had to go all the way to Florence to get the room.
Hope it helps someone!
Chao, see you all in Florence![]()
