Please do post. I definitely have been in your position before and all I can say is, practice makes perfect. We're all here to practice and learn. Sure, there are a lot of high talented people here, but what made CA a cool forum imo? They all help each other and even new people can get involved. I'm truely amazed by this forum. I wouldn't be at my level if it wasn't for this forum and my effort.

Wingstar, if you're serious about it, go ahead and practice. It's the only way to improve, really!

    Happy New Year!

Wingstar - There is an alternative solution to your angst. If you believe the quality of your image might be too low for IMG posting, then simply post it as a url link. That way, people can investigate and see it if they choose, and you don't have to worry about cluttering up the thread.

    Cheers!

Got frustrated, so I played around with the brushes *sigh*

Alright, here's mine, I didn't spend much time on it and to be frank, it's a failed sketch. I was reading about Linda Bergkvist, the famous CGtalk artist whom disappeared since Jan. 2006, and her method of painting. She used soft edged brushes so I was thinking, to achieve a smooth blend, why not give it a try? Hence, the blurry and awfully-done work... not something I'd be proud of showing.

    old
...I blame the late nights for the delay, and for the result; first forgetting a rocket leg, then being a poor sport with the light and finally overusing filters.

    somewhat fixed.

Ryoken, Senanimech & Nightblue ~ thanks!

    Senanimech:
I play around, some are for clean up, others are for dirt and flare etc ~ apply the image to a new layer in photoshop and then try various filter/combinations out; then play with the apha and blending; merge down: done.

& I only used some under artistic and blur/sharpen before; but nowdays most gets used.

(and the filter you are asking for might be fibers, but thats just a poor mans wood grain)
