I really really love your stuff! Your line usage and gesture work is especially neat. Can't wait to see more!
really nice stuff! love those horses
Terrific work! I'm REALLY impressed with the improvement shown from your first page to now. Awesome!
Please keep posting. I really enjoy your work!
Thanks everyone!
Here's an update on the painting
And some stuff more relating to mobile games, I was going to see if I could get some freelance gigs, but most jobs posted don't seem to be worth the effort of replying, no budget and unprofessional approach to the whole thing. It's too bad too because I really like making game graphics, something about them being for a specific use just makes it so fun. I'm still in two minds about it.
As you can see I suck at the graphic design part tho.

love the little girl painting!
and also i think the backgrounds is really good, and the..otter? looks like a nice and simple design![]()
I got around to photographing this summers oils, all are plein air, last two alla prima. It's so hard to let go of the work while it still has "imperfections" in it, but I figure the more I do of these over time the easier it's gonna get to keep the painting cohesive even when doing it in one sitting.
First one and my favorite, I love painting water scenes, but it's really hard to find interesting compositions with distance in them from our summer cottage, it took me ages to settle on this one.
This one was an absolute pain, I wanted to paint a sunny scene, but the sun kept getting hidden behind clouds, so the lightning is off.

rumpenstiltzkin: Thanks, yep it's an otter, got it in one
I'm getting kinda tired of my hair again. I don't know why I always look so super serious.

Love the portrait; the texture is really nice and the subtle color variation. One thing that's buggin' me though is the eyes; they feel a bit far apart to me, like the one closer to us is too far out. I dunno, maybe that's just me. In any case, great work.

The portrait truly is great. I always come out serious in my self portraits too. It's just not fun holding a smile for so long![]()
Free for commissioned work
dierat: Thanks! Yeah I had huge trouble with the eyes, I think I just couldn't sit still enough. I went back and made some small changes, but I think the distance of the eyes is correct. There might be a problem with the eyes being at slightly different angle then something else, or everything else though.
meteorcat: thanks.
I wanna do a happy dance, I'm so satisfied that despite my doubts on the issue, I do actually now remember several muscles of the horse! Whooppeee! I've been trying to study them for nearly a week now, but thought I was seeing no improvement. I still can't totally understand them in space, and there's several holes in my knowledge, but at least I know what I don't know.
I did this sketch based on one of my mom's old books, tam the untamed to check up on my horse knowledge. I know it's stupid to say this, but no ref! Obviously I should have used one, but I wanted to make sure I was pushing my memory as far as it would go.
And I've been trying to do little sketches of fantasy creatures to keep my imagination alive, here's one as lineart I scanned. Scanner is finally working again too.

You have a very nice scketchbook!
I especialy like your "ghost" painting. Composition and lighting are very well done!
Oh and your inks too.![]()
Cassandre Palentine: thanks!
My little sketches I've been doing to enjoy being wholly traditional. I've never really used colored pencils before, except for coloring books, but I bought a huge set in grade school that I'm now finally using. Never throw art supplies away!

nice little update, the mermaid is really cute!![]()
rumpenstiltzkin: Thanks, I really enjoyd doing more light hearted sketches for a change.
Speedy from today, reboot.
And something I'm working on for my sister, for another student party, or a gala. It's fun having free hands and knowing a lot of people will see it printed.

oh the first one is freaky! i like it
and i like the siluette and colors of the second one, looks very nice!
rumpenstiltzkin: thanks!
Here is progress on the poster, I was really feeling out of it for a while but now it seems to be coming along, and I hopefully fixed most of my funky anatomy. Still need to do somthing to the womans arm tho, the siluette is just bad.
Done now.

Keep painting and posting!
Open for commissions......just PM me.
nice updates! i like the character from post #174 and the value studies looks great. theres something with the horses one that looks the best, maybe ´caus its such strong silhouettes.
fallenangel: thanks!
rumpenstiltzkin: Thanks, I think I got a lot out of those studies.
Continuing to try and hit my weak spots, here's a value study with a black and a white object. Dark values have always been a lot harder for me then light ones, and they are so difficult to study from photos too.
Very inspirational sketchbook! Thank you very much for sharing your workflow![]()
