You're good at only drawing the outlines, I find that the hardest way to draw live figures. Your drawn shading could use help but the painting is beautiful. It would be nice if your figures had the same roundness the teapot has, and the same sense of being planted firmly on the ground. Getting into details with the figures can sometimes distract from the overall shape. Like on that woman's shirt, the wrinkles look unnatural because they're not following the form enough.
Thanks for the useful critique Linzoy. We have been mainly consentrating on outlines on our figuredrawing sessions - I guess that's because some people are having so much trouble with them - so it's hard to get in practice for shading. It can be sooo frustrating to just be doing a single outline for 2,5 hours.
Here's something new from my sketchbook, a portrait I did of mom while she agreed to pose for me (in other words stay relatively still while watching television). Unfortunately the tv distracted me way too much, so nothing spectacular.
Here I did a character sketch for our new rpg campaing, I'm excited since I've wanted to try playing for a long time, but somehow never really managed. My dear friend already kindly translated the character profile to simple terms:
She's good looking, can't see for shit, can't remember who she spend the previous night with and can dualwield, no wonder everyone likes her.
I'm not really that happy with it, but I'm so goddamn lazy it's a miracle I even half finish something that isn't shcoolwork, so I'm trying to work my way up from that.
A selfportrait assigment for school, It was looking really promising at the start, so now that it's gone all wrong I'm just annoyed at it.
Some examples of technical drawings from school. I wish all our courses were as fun.

Seems I'm as bad with updating as I feared.
Holidays are over and I'm back in school. I'm starting to get the hang of oil paints I think. And I bought myself a new brush a few days ago I already love to death, it's so big and springly!
Orange still life.
black and white copy of an interior decoration magazine page. (We weren't allowed to choose).
Some friends I drew.
A birthday present for my little sis, who's nuts about teddy bears.
Finished the material selfportrait.
Another selfportrait.
Some hands I drew when I figured I just suck at them too bad. I have a problem finishing everything I start properly as you can probably see. This reminds me I should draw some more. I got the book of hundred hands just now, so I'll probably copy some good looking stuff from there when I get around to it.
I'll Post some anatomy copies I try to do regularly next time, this updating thing takes so much time.

Some drawings from Bridgeman's constructive anatomy.
Quick animal practice
Lifedrawings
Managed to finally take a photo with minimum glare. I should get three more paintings home next week, if I manage to carry them
Homework I started working on today, since it's a "holiday". Some nasty glares on the picture.

very nice, i like your still lifes, keep it up
Thanks The Original [E].
Now I'm not sure if this is interesting at all, but I thought I'd record my process through the painting alltogether, since I already started and don't really have the means for that when I'm at school. I've worked two more days at this one now, and it's taking me too long. Today was going horribly anyway, so I called it quits early.
This is somewhere during day 2, working my way through the fabrics.
Day 3 starting out, must have spend half an hour trying to mix a good color for the lower right. Also did a reddish wash for the darker background. At the end of the second day I couldn't see *anything* because of the glares, and at this point I can see that really screwed the left fabric I was working on at the time.
Did the chair, some fabric and the hat.
Redid the apples. I'm hoping I'm far enough that I have time to finish the whole thing the next weekend and let it dry so I can carry it to school.

Just a quick update of the old paintings I finally dragged home, and the newest development on my homework, which I turned in today. Hopefully I can manage to snap a few pictures of the ink croquis we did today as well later.
I hate how this one is just plain not finished, but when time is up, it's up.

Just a quick update, a day's worth of work on my next critique, working on finishing faster than the last one. Tomorrow starting almost portraiture (selfportrait for 4 weeks), so excited!

Wow, did I really not comment here already?
You have some really good stuff here! The last post is really good. Your still lifes and figure drawings are great. The chair still life in post number 7 has a sense of 3D, but the back of the chair is a little flat. Compared to your still lifes, the material self portrait is a bit boring. So more studies for you!

Wow I'm bad at updating.
Paintings from our selfportrait-period. I had been itching to try portraits, and then all we get to paint is selfportraits, bah. First one sucks pretty bad, but it shows the progress nicely.
Some random stuff from our watercolor landscape-period. Landscapes and watercolor are both so hard.
Some ink croqui, around 5 min.
Random unfinished digital sketches.
My new distraction from drawing. Who will need to go pee right about now.

VERY good self portraits!
And of the figure studies, the sitting one is the best.
Keep updating!

Thanks for the encouragement Serpian.
I'm finally nearing the end of bridgeman's constructive anatomy, hopefully I'm done in a couple more days but I'm just too lazy to scan all those drawings.
Here's a color study selfportrait from today though. I hadn't painted for a little over a week and was starting to get withdrawal.

Huge dump since I've been gone so long. We had more watercolor done too, but since there's no point moving that stuff home just to haul it back again for Chritmas, there probably won't be pictures until then.
Got 6 paintings from the last two weeks sitting at school too, hopefully will post them a little faster then this bunch once I get them home.
A quick birthdaypresent for my wowfreak friend.
Wedding present for a really old friend of mine. We accidentally locked ourselves in that building during a thunderstorm ages ago, good times.
Summer homework.
Schoolwork

Your self portraits are amazing.
Sketch page coming soon.
Some painting from the last two weeks, bad glares on the cowboy and one I didn't manage to get any decent pic of, will try to remember to upload it later. I think I didn't really get the hang of expressionism. We started cubism today, hope it goes better.
Some watercolors from my watercolor sketchbooks
This was from live model, such a nice STILL dog! Unlike our puppy I tried to paint from life but failed miserably each time about after two pencil lines...
Started a mastercopy. I have the feeling I could have, just maybe, done it a little bigger. And there actually are different tones in the painting, for some reason the photo seems to have completely bleached them. And yeah, the hair is horrible.

Spend today shopping a halloween outfit for a friend so no light left for taking pictures of painting when I got home. I'm really looking forward to painting her face. But designing an outfit is so much fun, here's what we got so far:
And a party poster I did for my sis and her student buddies, typography and background color not my fault.

Why haven't I been here for so long? Sorry about that. I really like your summer scenes in post 15. For your figures, always remember proportions!

We did ink croquis last time on life drawing, definately my favourite. They cut an hour off life drawing, so we only get 2 hours a week this year.
Watercolors from earlier this fall, the first few suck pretty bad, but meh.
a new pic I managed.

Wow, it's been a while. Here's some stuff I've done since last time I was here. I really seem to have problems photographing anything that is bigger than 70 cm.

Scanned some watercolors too while at it.

the watercolor portraits are my favorite. The best is the guy with the headphones. You have painted it so delicately! nice work. In general, I feel that watercolor is your best medium. The atmosphere in them are very cohesive and pleasing to look at where some of the other mediums can be harsh at times.
It seems you exagerate proportion a bit in drawings (who doesnt) and sometimes it can come a bit akward. Its mostly the figurative work and I can tell its improving. Keep up the anatomy studies.

Thanks for the pointers Ging. I'll definately try to find more time for some anatomy studies again, I'm definately lacking in that area. It's interesting you should pick the headphone guy as your favorite, as my teachers didn't really care for it, and while I liked it at the time I still feel I'm generally just fumbling around with watercolor.
We've been doing portraiture the last month, tho most of the time went with the pencil. I don't really like the second once that much, but I did it in quarter of the time, gain some, lose some. Finally a better picture of one of the previous ones.
Something I did today.

I believe you to be the queen of traditional!
lovely whimsical image in that last post![]()
Toffeeliz: thanks, that really cheered me up (I'm a nervous wreck at the moment because of an internship interview tomorrow), tho I don't think that's really very accurate =P
Here's something I've been fighting with on and off for months now, and just can't seem to finish it to my liking.

Beautiful traditional stuff. I wish I could work with opaque colors like this D:
Especially the (self)portraits are wonderful but I also loved your summer-homework paintings
Keep on going![]()
