Those photo studies are so nice, criminy. I'm having a little bit of déja vu with Transient Man... Alice & the Caterpillar is coming along nicely, and I look forward to more.I'm especially fond with the very bottom of that pic right now... Can't wait to see what you do with the smoke. No pressure or anything.

thirdeye:Thank you so much!
William b. Hand: Thank you for all your lovely words! What about the Transient man is deja-vu ish though? That smoke in the caterpillar piece needs to be more swirly in perspective, I'll fix it soon.
Sharkcellar:Thank you! It does, it's such an awesome story. I'm super stoked that my character will be a part of it!
tja88: Thank you!
phizpietl:Thank you so much! Your design sense is incredible!

Here's a quick update: The first is a study of my cousin's daughter - Deetya. She's such an adorable little thing! I need to finish it off.
---------------------
This is for a merman piece I am starting. Brother of Gar, guardian of the seas. I want him to be very effeminate in pose but with a very masculine body. His illusionary power is that he subtly shapeshifts to appear as a mermaid, luring ships to their death. More on the story soon!
Just playing around with the basic composition and designs for the head. The image will be a half underwater.

shit man... this is too good!!!
Cheers!
do you always do color comps like that? Maybe I'm just dumb, but I never really do much color compsseems really useful tho hahah
I think the fishier heads [2 and 3] are better.
really love your work!
Deetya is looking so sweet here, please do finish the painting. I wonder what the name Deetya means?

sooooooooooooooooooo nice! welldone
If the feet were finished I'd have thought the child was a photo. Nice work!
awesome I still have exstreme difficulty in identifying the flaws in your images, tho that may say more about me. Only thing I found was on the before february images, it really isn't worth mentioning either... I guess what im trying to say is rock on.

yeah.. the colours looking wonderful.. 0_o awesome!! can't wait for how it will turn out.
but tex is probably right about him being dumb tho but then again I don't either so we are both dumb.![]()
Great portraits! The caterpillar piece looks a lot better now. Those portraits are great as well! Keep at it man![]()
Powerful colours and compositions. I love your work![]()
This is just an amazing SB it has to be said.. Keep up the good work because I'm loving the creatures in this one. Would like to see maybe a couple more pencil works (just personal preference) but its all good!

Awesome study of 'Deetya', for some reason I especially love her hands.
The new WIP looks very promising as well, my preference lies in the middle face.
Ivan Turcin: Thank you!!
Texahol: Um, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Even when I do I usually end up changing it in the final piece. I paint directly color and not in greyscale so it just gives me a starting point,I guess. Yep, def going with the fishier heads, the first one is just wonky, thanks!
bhanu: Andddd as we found out, practically every female Indian name is one of the names for Lakshmi. Money money money
phizpietl: Thank you! Studies are fun to do
matty_mcmullen: Thank you!
Feral Friend: Heheh thanks! I really don't like the ultra polished look, I really want to go rough but my mom insists I keep it "finished" Oh well, clients, what can you do
Incinerated: Hahah yea, Jan-Feb was a bleh time for art. Thank you!
bumskee: bumskee!! Thank you !
Abrodos: Thanks!
Rushlord:Thank you very much!
ThomasM: Will do, I have a bunch of pencil pieces but it's soooooo boring to scan them. I'll update soon though. Thanks!
Teundeboer: Thank you! She has such pretty hands, baby hands..aww!
So....I'm trying a slightly different/looser approach. I've been wanting to go back to oils/acrylics and I thought I'd try out some compositions on dear ol' Photoshop first.
The first is a quick 10 min sketch:
This one started out with wanting to paint something about chakras/kundalini ( this one was the solar plexus) but along the way, besides the wonky body and the weird ass face, it started reminding me TOO much of Veronique Meignaud's work. I lovelovelove her work but I hate it when mine turns into an imitation so I stopped. I still like the colors though:
And the latest try:

That last one is the shyt Girl, I really love that one, a very strong attractive piece. I hope you get this printed out too. Like I said at chat, we agree that its sorta sucky that sometimes our work comes out like somebody elses, but its also cool, its nice to see aesthetics from those peoples eyes too.
Please keep the loose painterly stuff coming, and yeah, you need to get painter for yerself too. I wanna see them luscious brushstrokes.
