Dana_T: Thank you! The pores are just a speckled brush, I just keep going over with the brush till it looks ok.
Luk999: Many thanks!! More creatures coming up for sure
Abee: Thank you so much! I'll upload my brushes as soon as I clean them up, I have a tendency to keep adding other sets to mine and right now it is about 120 mb. I use brushes mostly from Enayla, Jaime, Blur and SamsonsReaper , all these are available online. I end up using the hard round brush for 80% of the work though.
Pigeonkill:Thank you!
Lav: Thanks a lot!
The Gurch: Hahaha, lots of chocolate? Thanks !!
Odayga: Thank you!
damienflux: Hahaah that's funnyThanks for stopping by
raminafshari: Thanks for the kind words!
redrobot: Thank you! Painterly work is fun to do, I finally know what painting to relax means, haha.
in2eternity: Thank you!!

Here's a study from kindgirls. I was trying to emulate Zhanglu but it didn't quite turn that way. It was a fun study anyway. The canvas brushes are at http://cghub.com/scripts/view/147/
Also posting a doodle so I can get started on it quicker. It is a orchid-mantis-mantis shrimp-crab(hermit+sally lightfoot)-portuguese-man-o-war-human hybrid thingy. I want to paint this exotic deadly seductive creature. Pose influences are tribal belly dance and the chinese ribbon dances. I want to plan out the background before I do a clean linework on her though. I thought of this image while listening to Queen- Killer Queen, so I guess maybe her dancing over a pile of dead bodies? ( painted in hints, I don't want it to look gory). I'd like this piece to have some action/grace/movement, something that is missing out on a lot of my pieces, heheh.

Hi Shreya! (It's Brooke, formerly Kelandra) I'm glad found your thread at last! (oh yeah, and your blog)![]()
ohhh that last girl portrait is so sexy![]()
damn that fake trad portrait came out really wellI tried the brushes out really quick, but I have no idea how you got it to turn out so well...my quick tests still came out looking extremely digital hahah
Beautiful![]()
Wow, she's sortuv both shockingly cute and stunningly rendered.
bhanu: Hahah, me too! I always have great elaborate ideas and plans and get fed up before I finish the piece, bleh.
fury03: Thank you!
tbaldree: Pretty girls are fun to paintThanks!
Loathsome: Thank you! Still trying to plan out the second one.
llex_paul: Thanks! I'm super thrilled to be in the company of such great artists.
Seraph Fawkes: Thank you so much!
shadowbrooke: Brooke!! So glad to see you again! Hope you've been well
Parsakoira: Kiitos( sorry, need to show off my Finnish skillz when I can)
Texahol: Thank you! I do most of the painting with the basic round brush, I used the texture brushes only in the end.
Pasting from my FB because I'm too lazy to type it again ->When I paint with textures, I usually use both a darker and a lighter tone. I paint with the darker tone first, then switch to the lighter one and invert the texture in the brushes tab. That way you get to paint both the peaks and the valleys of the texture( umm if that makes sense), adding to the 3-dimensionality. Of course, keeping it subtle is the key too.
Hope that helps!
Odayga :Thank you!
William b. Hand: Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like her!
Started with a quick color test and some variations just for fun. I'm thinking of a cave-like environment with a nest of eggs somewhere on the walls, just to add to the creepyness. Booby-spotlight FTW.

One quick study, about 45 min. I found a little metal elephant in the house.
A silly scary Mona Lisa manip because I was bored. I saw an image where she looked a bit like Paris Hilton and now I can't see the painting the same way anymore. I really need to finish up that original portrait.
A horrible sketch for the composition of the Mantis girl

The Mona Lisa is terrifying, good work. And the composition isn't all that horrible, it could work!
good lord that mona lisa will haunt my nightmares. maybe have mantisgirl more upright and to the right?

bhanu: Thanks Bhanu! Here's another stage.
I didn't really like the previous head, looked too baby ish. There are still a lot of issues with the face but I will fix them in the end. Need to handle the background and her torso first. I'm going to keep her torso waxy-white insectoid-ish. We'll see how that works out, hahah.
beautiful designs
keep it up
