Since I have very little experience on this drawing, I would like some crits for it. The original plan of the lighting part is from the front, but I have no idea if that's a good thing or not. Basically it's suppose to be an evening sky. Hm, oh well.... I looked it too many times to give it a good crit on my own.

Yay, xmas cards!
Here are a few things that jump out to me:
* the pic looks generally unrefined to me, unfinished
* there is a lack of textures, the grass has the same (none) texture as the sky,...
* even if the lightning is from the front, the horse and the girl should cast shadows on the ground behind them.
* there is such a thing as gravity. The white hair on the horse's paws look like there is a lot of hairspray on them.
*try to bring some colour of the surroundings to the shading. for example, you could use some grass-green on the pony to blend it better into the environment

Of course it is challenging. And don't worry - you don't have to do it all at a single blow. If you try to look into the matter of texture in this one, and colours in your nex piece... before you even notice it, you'll improve greatly!
Don't forget that nobody ever has finished learning all there is to know about art. Luckily, that doesn't keep anybody from painting, does it?
So keep it up and don't restrain from sending this card to your friends for christmas!

okay, good concept. I'll give you some help on the horse here, as that's what I'm best at drawing . The head is a tad too big and I'm not quite sure what's going on with the feathers (feathers as in the hair around the horse's hooves if you're non horse savvy.) are they blowing is the wind? Because they look a little stiff.
the chest appears to be around the pony's knees, it should be more or less in line with the bottom of the torso.
You could also look at some photos of horses in a similar position and add some muscles, especially around his shoulder area.
It doesn't look like he has any joints in his legs in the moment either, again have a look at some reference photos, or even real life if you can.

AlexandraBirchmore - Originally I was thinking of hair, but I guess I put way too many gel on his legs. I do agree that the horse is a tiny bit off.

Very nice. Maybe the background doesn't make sense too much. Is it a fountain, waterfall, volcano?

Hm... it's suppose to be a fountain in a desert, but then if the desert fit or not is a problem

This is almost like drawing the whole pic again...

- Added highlight on the girl and the pony
- fixed the horse anatomy in some ways although not that perfect
- used :sheisprettystock's snow stock for the snow
- patterns on the sandy ground and the rocks
- redrew the mountain and the trees
- doorframe stand out ... a little
- smudged the pony's hair

the figures yes. Mountains sort of. Trees nope. Snow yes. River yes. Rock yes. Clouds tried to, but it didn't fit no matter what I did
