Anyone try the new cintiq yet?

I tried searching, and can't find anything about this... It looks so amazing though! I don't want to buy one before I hear how it is for painting though, because graphic design and concept art are NOT the same.

In case you don't know what I am talking about<--- watch the movie to see it used in an amazing looking 2 monitor setup

"Please note that there is a 16% restocking fee if you decide to return a Cintiq product purchased from WacomDirect. The standard 30-day return period still applies."

For $160 I guess I could try it out...

Taking into consideration the size of the screen, at only 12.1 inches I really think it's a tad too pricey for the size.

I almost bought one of these myself, until I really started to think about it. 1000 + dollars (taking into account s&h, and puchasing a warranty if you did get an extended warranty) is really a lot to ask for such a tiny display area.

Granted the fact that it's a cintiq, and everyone knows that wacom is known for their quality merch.

You're gonna have to post a review if you really do fork out for the baby brother cintiq.

I'd buy one if they were actually standalone tablet pcs, which they aren't sadly .
Don't understand why no one bothers to make one, they would go like hot cakes (especially if you were the only company making them).

Hope some one can do a review, would be nice to know if there is any increase in productivity (I have a feeling that there isn't any, especially if you already work on a 20" + screen)

ImagineFX gave it 3.5 stars.... mainly because of the price. the review was full of pros but then they thought the steep price was awful value for money.

well considering the normal one is 20 inches, this is less than half price of that one, and you get and extra 2 inches.

I really want this one. I have never owned a tablet before, so I don't know if it actually makes a difference to have the image on the screen. Can I get some opinion on this? I'm trying to convince my parents to get me one of these for christmas instead of the older model.

    Hi;

I purchased the 21UX about 3 months ago and I have been loving it. It's got vivid color, accurate pointer control, and it's an absolute pleasure to work with.

My only complaint with it is that there is a minimal amount of lag with the cursor. (Not sure if this is the tablet or my PC).

I was curious about the new 21" widescreen they just released but I read the resolution is lower. If anyone has this one, I'd love to know what they think of it.

I am gonna try it once I have some money, I think it would be worth it to not sit at the computer to create. Although Colors mod on Nintendo DS has me interested too... I just hate sitting in the basement to do art, it feels like I am in a dungeon.

I work on a cintiq21 ux(for two years) and keep my palettes on a cintiq12ux(purchased in late nov this year) as a dual monitor set up. I work full screen on the 21 and then reach over and touch my brushes or color or whatever on the 12. Since going with the cintiqs my workflow and speed have increased dramatically. Two years ago I was 90% traditional drawing and painting. It made the transition to digital very smooth. Now I'm 90% digital. I love it...if mine broke down tonight I would buy another tomorrow. I am working on a dual quad core Boxx with 8 gigs of ram, I don't really notice a brush lag, but I may have just gotten used to it. I will add that it did take me a few weeks to get the feel for working on a consistantly slick surface.

The 12ux works great with my little laptop for travel as well.

buhlerks-I did the Colors thing on the DS lite as well. It is really fun and it works well.

    I don't get out much.

My business manager/wife lets me get away with it because I am self employed and its all a write off.

Did I mention that I don't get out much?

Seriously though since I am an artist full time my gear has become my hobby.
I am a bit of a tech junkie. Especially where art tech is concerned.

I still begin all my work with a regular pencil and paper though.

You have some cool stuff in your sketchbook by the way.
