    Sander's Sketches

So, Can't login to my old account for one reason or another.
Well made a new one here.

Glad to see the site back in the air. I did miss it so here is a new sketchbook for me. Here my old one can be found. link
    .

So here is my first post some figures from memory to start of this new sketchbook. Just hosted on imagehack.us for now, but will put them on here when the site is fully running. Need to practice more, but I do feel I am improving.

And here is link to my deviantart: www.viremaster.deviantart.com

went out to buy a new tablet today, and ended up finding a untuos 4 for a very cheap price. So the day started good. Then heard later on that my grandma only has 2 weeks left to live. So that fucked up my good mood completely. damn.

Still to try out the tablet i copyd some arms from Hamptons book. Arms are quite a tricky subject to me. But I did practice a good few on paper the latest days. Do not feel like scanning but might do in the upcomming days.

did a good bit more. My scanner just hates my sketchbook, its to big and bulky. =P. And part digital, just for more practice on anathomy and wacom skill. But didn't save anything but this page, forgot this sketchbook is a perfect place to upload that stuff to.

    Thanks for stopping by Jabbit!

Here are some pages of my physical sketchbook. Just picked some recent pages. My sketchbook and the scanner have no synergy what so even. The book really is to big.

Part from imagination, part from observation.

Holy *** dude, sorry for your grandma, I know what it is, lost mine in kinda same conditions 2 years ago, saying that it fucks up the mood is still under the truth..

That said, it's cool you found an intuos 4 at a cheap price. Which model ? You have very promising stuff here, keep it up !

thank you Psycho! will certainly do that!

And belette. Yes it sucks pretty badly, But I sort of saw it comming. Not that that makes it better. Atleast she gets a smile on her face everytime I drop by, so I will
Just do that about every 2/3 days as long as I have the chance to.

The Wacom I got is a intuos 4 small. Used to have a small bamboo and never had problems with the size, So don't really care that much for a big. But the thing is leaps ahead
of the bamboo for sure. I have already fallen in love with the thing.

Here are some updates, started with some gesture dr

awings, then when i got just about warmed up I had family dropping by. haha. Now just did some hand drawings. First time taking a closer look at those, with some help from gnomon video by David Finch. Lots of fun to draw along with him. But i can totally see why hands can be hard. haha. will finnish the dvd tommorow, but now Its time for a quick shower and then to bed.

Was watching some videos of sinix (who most of know i guess) on youtube. and saw him do some warm up tips, it was drawing cubes with ellipses. And damn is that a pain. I did it a bit on paper before now and then and it was allright. but on the wacom it is just 10x more of a pain haha. I think I have put 50 down before both looked more or less acceptable. haha. Just posting this as a reminder to myself to do 1 or 2 of these every time I start drawing on the pc.

the face is a quick and somewhat loose copy from one of his other videos (took 1/5th of the time the cube did lol). Well worth watching his videos If you do not know about him yet.

Some of those hand studies look fantastic - mainly the overlaps and exaggeration you're getting. Some of the humans have some strange anatomy issues, but you're already practicing that so keep up the good work. Watch the proportions as well. You should also do some practice with perspective - some of the characters lack volume or are off balance.

Thank you for the tips! I agree that some of the hands look great, but as said most are from ref. Then Again I did a few today from the head that have some that turned out kind off o.k. so I guess I learned a thing or two.
    Again I appreciate the pointers.

Glad the loadingspeeds on this site are fast again.

    update:
Some skull studies, took me a bit to get warmed up but I am pretty happy about the later ones. Also some hands, and some cubes.

Hey man thanks for checking out my sketchbook. I like your stylized stuff, but I do think that you need to study a bit more anatomy to get the right proportions. Also I think that you should speed up your gestures to get that dynamic feel!

Thanks for the replys guys! Sorry for the lack of updates. My grandma had died, and even thought i knew it was comming, and the day after my grandma her funeral my cousin his appendix collapsed, and he got lucky to survive. I have been drawing a little but had a hard time to concentrate. and however it is rather shitty (by the lack of a better term), I should not use it as an excuse not to draw and have to get myself back into the habit of drawing daily. Expected updates in a few days.

Actually lets upload a bit of basic perspective practice already.
And will most certainly work more on anatomy. I am nowhere near where I want to be.

Great sketches Staal! I am really loving your work! I too had been watching Sinix's videos on YouTube and that's how I came upon this website! I need to find that video with the ovals and cubes! Unless you have a quick link? But I will definitely be looking for it! It sounds like a fun warm up, no matter how much of a pain it is! haha.

I got here throught Sinix to. I don't have the link at hand, but it comes down to drawing a simple cube and putting circles on each of its planes. It should Help with your hand eye Coordination. I bet it will get more easy the more you do it haha!

Here is some basic form practice. Not a lot but hey, at least I am drawing! Might do a couple more before I go to sleep.
