Hey all, hate to post one of these threads but I was doing my Christmas shopping and remembered this book I saw a few months ago as something a friend would really like but I cannot remember the name of the book or artist. To describe it:
As I remember it, it was almost entirely environment drawings and paintings all by either one studio or (I believe) just one artist. It was not large but fairly thick and probably had a couple hundred pieces of art. I remember the amount of work being fairly staggering. The scenes were mainly of desolate city streets, skylines, and interiors with a sort of Akira-esque tone to them, kind of dirty and retrofitted type future Tokyo maybe. It definitely had a Japanese feel to it (in both technique and location). The copy I saw was one that somebody had bought at San Diego Comicon.
I'd guess that it was published recently, though I don't know for sure. Ring any bells?
