I really dig the silhouette thumbs and the Memphisto study, and this last caricature just came out great man, have nothing to critique ^_^
Thanks for the kind words, folks
A new caricature today - guess who

seems to be edward, the faggot vampire.
Your SB Title is awesome, thats exactly what I've been thinking about lately. When I drew only to have something to post here, I knew something was wrong. So I stopped visiting this site and the fun came back. Now I'm drawing what I like and not what I think will make my SB popular.
Great Improvement! Do you do thumbnails before drawing the Caricature? Thats something Jason Seiler talks about on his DVD: Drawing lots of small thumbs till you nail the likeness.
Edward's Likeness is pretty good, I think everyone who knows him should be able to recognise him. Maybe a bit smaller eyes and a muuuch wider face.
Tom Richmond has awesome tuts about drawing caricatures: http://www.tomrichmond.com/blog/tutorials/

yay, someone recognized him eventuallyseems to be edward, the faggot vampire
Thumbnailing is not my cup of tea at all - I mean I did a bunch, but I still haven't figure out how to turn them into full blown rendering. Instead of doing thumbs I use (or at least I used for this drawing) a trial and error method. First I try to establish the overall contour of the face and make initial exaggerations, then I try to align all the facial features with that contour - and make some adjustments/more exaggerations on the fly.Great Improvement! Thanks for the Tom Richmon link - this last caricature is actually pretty much inpired (and maybe influenced) by his work and tutorials.
So you're drawing Edward to appeal to the 12-14 year old girl demographic? XD Nice sketch by the way.
Not too productive lately. I've spend almost the whole weekend struggling with illustrator - just to realize how limited its functionality is...
Anyway, a photoreffed girl made in Illustrator and Photoshop and some random birdie:

That's some interesting advice. At times, I too struggle to just draw for the fun of it.
Dsmith: About that gnome - I don't think I put more effort into that piece - but who knows?
vatteh: What advice? Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
Daily lineart sketch. Hope you like it.

that girl with the sunglasses is cool! keep up the awesome work
looks like you had a good eye for fine art in the first place so these 10 pages have been a wonderful inspiration to me and how i must improve at a fast rate. Talent comes second over hard work, but second is never last!![]()
really cool artworks! Great variations of style and techniques you've got! Kudos![]()
Hey, Novbert! Thx for the advice in my SB before! And if you don't mind, I want to ask something too. Do you have any advice on representing complicated thing with single, simple line? Like this artist does in here and here
The old warrior with the hammer and shield is cool! I like that sunglassed girl in green too, but I feel the abdomen and pelvis is a bit strange...

exi, Tom, keigo: Thank you very much, folks! Glad you like my stuff
BluezAce: Man, you've just asked THE QUESTION. I guess I could give you some advices 'cause that's something I've been struggling on and off for almost three years now, but this topic has many aspects and I don't know what you want to hear about. Is it a pure technical question on how can you produce drawings with simple line setups using the limited hand-eye coordination capabilities of a tablet (so your main problem is that you need to redraw your lines constantly which makes your drawings look anything but clean) or is it about how to create lineart and how to translate complex forms - like the human body - to basic lines and shapes?
Answer me, and I'll try my best to answer your question.
Made some progress with that dwarf guy today. Actually I'd call it finished - I've spent way too much time on it so far. I can see some issues with it here and there but getting some feedback would be terrific. Tear it apart, folks!

Really nice concepts and paintings!
I love the Frodo caricature!
There are some jagged outlines on the dwarf, but aside from that I really love it!Nice concept and execution!

Trisscar: Thanks, man! It's created with lasso tool. Pretty weird method to create stuff but I'll definitely experiment with it some more.
I found that I haven't done too much studies for weeks so here goes a bunch. All photostudies. Tear 'em apart!
