Its kewl to see how people come up with thier own names based on what they like,
I always resented that my parents got to give me "my name" I never even liked it! Lol

Call me a geek if you want but this name came from WoW.
The Horde to Alliance translation for LOL is KEK.... (something that is seen alot)
I don't mean to be called lol though, I just liked the short and simple sound of kek.
"Oregano" actually isn't from the spice shelf. It's a pun off of "original" that my mother used when I would show her something that I had just drawn. As in "That's really 'oregano.'"
So, it's just a tip of the hat to me mom.![]()
Ciao,

haha thats cute
christopher. pronoun [st-o-ff]. go figure. i've had every variant of it, too - christoph, the christoph, the stoph, christo's, stophles, i just like this one best. its stuck pretty well, too, i'll probably be using it as my "pen name" for future publications.
I was playing Counterstrike on the office LAN years ago, and needed a callsign. I bought some summer pudding for lunch, and well, nothing else sprang to mind. If the game had started sooner, I could have been mozarella and tomato sandwich with pesto.
Pete
I love how people here just call me by my first name, Max. It works really well for me.
I agree. I use my real name because I want whatever I do, positive or negative, to be credited to my real name, and I'd rather be addressed by my real name than a handle, as it feels more direct than some off-shoot comment to my left side. It also makes meeting people in real life easier, as I can be addressed by my real name there as well as online.
There is a certain culture that I'm interested in, and hope to one day be a part of, that shuns handles and the people who use them. They seem to think that hiding behind another name that wasn't any of your original names is a juvenile trend used by people who don't participate in very intellectual or credible activities. People who do things like this are seen as the scum of the earth by the people in this culture.
I don't dislike people who use handles myself, but I do like to see people who use their real name, and naturally feel more respect towards them (I bet most won't care for my respect though, haha).

Stovieheed It started off as a funny insult from my dad, Stovies are a Scottish meal (basically mashed potato and sausages or corned beef) known to be fairly thick and heed just means head only pronounced with a Fife accent. He called me it one day a couple of my mates were around and it just kinda stuck, people call me Stovie for short. my dad also reckons im not very bright but i can lift heavy things! Hes full of praise![]()

Awesome, everyone (as in those who replied to this thread)! Interesting how people pick their online names!
There is still alot of people I wanna know about their names and Idiot_Apathy is one of them! I just gotta know why he name himself so!
Oh and Max, the reason I didn't put up my real name is for security. Well I'm just following what my dad says years back. I guess putting up your real name is kinda cool...

My Sketchbook above. (Way too long ago... been a busy college student)
Maybe, but handles are certainly more popular. My mother always went on about Internet security like I didn't have common sense and didn't know how to defend myself, lawl. She also likes to rant negative things at heavy metal music and violent videogames.. Basically anything that's a popular belief among the media. I wish she'd take a deeper look though. I'm not sure as to the opinion my father has about using real names on Internets.
Being an employee (and more specifically, a female employee) at a game company, I have typically stuck to the anonymity of pseudonyms for safety and privacy reasons. When I go home at the end of the day, I wanted to be unrecognizable to our fans.
Here, however, I decided to use my use my real name alongside my handle because I wanted to offer advice that could help people to get into the games industry. To that end, I see it as only fair that if I did give bad information, it could be traced back to me.
Aside from professionals giving advice or promoting themselves, I think it is a terrible idea for someone to use their real name online. For non-professionals, display of personal data sacrifices the safety of anonymity for no gain. “A rose by any other name smells as sweet,” yadda yadda yadda.
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

well... my real name is Joe Smith.
i think i'm safe by virtue of the fact that my name couldnt get anymore generic.
here check this out, i was on that faggy website Myspace the other day and decided to do a search for myself:
72,000 pages are a match for 'joe smith'
32,000 matched my name, age, and gender.
26 people are posing out as me.
183 users also hate the 26 posers.
43 pages some up if i type my name in conjunction with my social security number.
now i realize those are based on a keyword search function, but that still means i'm relatively an untrackable ghost online, and i'm not even trying to hide.
..my neighbor's dog.

Well, bleifstift was already taken. Bleistift is German for pencil and brei is German for porridge so my name would be porridgepen in English. You can interpret that name any way you want.
'Caramel e150d' is the food colouring in Diet Coke, which I'm horribly addicted to.
I once ran a keyloging program to see what key i pressed the most for a week, and it was "F11". I got the results moments before I registered a new username at some website and it just stuck with me. I think its the key I hit the most at the time because i set it as undo in all my programs![]()
It mainly came from my former hairstyle (afro) and what a lot of my friends call me, but it's also my screen name for online gaming.
Warground Zer0, kind of makes me sound like a moronic war monger but nothing could be farther from the truth.
The first time I ever came across the CA website and started drawing I wrote a story called War Ground Zer0 and it pretty much stuck with me.
It's the name of an album by one of my favorite bands: Death in June.
I guess I'll post here, no sense making a big ol thread about it:
I used to be Rhineville. Now I'm Jason Rainville. Rhineville came from merging my two backgrounds, french and german. Now I'm just little ol' me.
Jason Rainville = Rhineville. Remember it punks![]()
One of my college nicknames. (The other one was 'pocket rocket' - I guess 'cause I'm small and really busy.)
Well I had to have some sort of online handle and I figured that I was a bit odd so I wanted Subversive as my nickname, unfortunately it's taken on most sites, so I figured since my primary form of art is fantasy and that has to do with imagination, I'd stick imagination on the end, it got cut off though. So I ended up being Subversive-imaginati not Subversive-imagination.
The odd thing is the name grew on me and is now firmly stuck and of course everyone asks if it's a reference to the illuminati.![]()
I am Lord Of All Bunnies. By lord I do not mean that I have dominion over all the furry hops but that in the past I was labeled, or self-labeled my recollection is bad, because of certain characteristics, behaviors, and personality quirks, as an embodiment of “bunny.” From embodiment it is only a short hop, sigh, to “lord.”
I hope you followed all that, I am not repeating it.
LOL!
...Another step on the path of lead

There is a short film I made on my homepage explaining that.
See the link in my signature..

Venom vindicta..
Venom i just like the word, and i used to be badb venom
badb is an irish godess of war, takes the form of a raven or a wolf. I'm a fighter, and chaos is fun. i thought it suited me.
Venom i just like
and vindicta is latin for vengance.
Because i stopped being badb when my boyfriend which i based badb on, decided to cheat on me. so i swore vengance.
Not all that interesting.

From the song "Four Ton Mantis" by Amon Tobin. Used to be BigZam, cuz when I was into Gundam, Big Zam was my favorite Mobile Armor. But I really needed to shed the anime thing...
