Great stuff. Your work is very energetic. Your lines are very loose and expressive. Your style is more sketchy and I've been told that such a style lends itself more to dynamic and loose drawings. However, as a beginner I'm still strugling with achieving nice clean lines. Do you have any advice on how to get looser lines without ruining line quality (like you seem to accomplish quite well)?

    Sadness

    D.C- thanks man,

    - as far as the lines go...use your whole arm to execute the movement in creating the line and not just with just your wrist.

see how tight you can get while still doing larger movements with your arm.

    its mostly mileage.....
and remember to work to express the line as something that is alive...

yeah i know that might seem a bit dramatic...but i find it helpful in my own path..

...it will come.....just be tenacious in your persistence.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Great piece, I like the contrast between the warm/soft colours and the sadness of the characters expression.

    Smasher Concept Revisited

lookin to push this guy further here are some of the front shots i had worked out:

puttin him in to an animation- the whole idea behind the scene is that he is smashing his way to thru this large atrium/ like room filled with obstacles - all to get to the center where his heart and hands are, before his soul escapes from the hole in his chest ......

ill keep updating it with final pieces....

    initial sketch

here he is with out his hood

    the ANGRY filipino-

thanks man! as far as tips- id say draw in pen only for a month or two! thatd light a fire under a whole lot of things....you wont be able to erase ....and it challenge you in different ways for sure. Id use a ultra fine tip sharpie or a black tombo brush pen. do a pages full of thumbnail people and gestures, filling in cast shadows with solid blacks....be willing to push them in directions as far as gesture that might not be always anatomically correct ...but look cool to you....lastly ....draw some characters doing something..that will definitely inspire motion.

hope some or any of that helps ...i try to hit those markers in my own path

    More Sketching With Brushes

dont know why im on this word balloon kick but...eh..whatever...

i think what might make it so attractive right now is that by its very presence in the drawing...it automatically adds a comic bookish type feel too it...hmm....donno

tryin to sketch out whatever comes to mind without trying to hard to make it something at the beginning

heres what came out...gonna try some other brushes later
