Android Jones shape question

Okay, so I haven't got the cash (sad but true) to buy the Andrew Jones download just yet, but I DID see the Massive Black SanFran workshop FLV, wherein Andrew showed how he brings up some shapes of geometrical and other forms.
What program is it he uses?
I am always trying to reinvent my "blocking in weird shapes" part of my painting, thumbnailing if you wish, and so I'm really wondering what program this is and if I can really use it as easy as mr.Jones does (probably not, atleast not until I practiced with it).

So..

Okay...follow-up question...

Since I got z-brush2 allready.

I really don't recognixe anything from what I saw in that MB SF Workshop footage...

granted, I don't know Z-brush that well, but... where can one paint in plain 2d like Android does there?? What tool do I use, and ho can I alter the colours like that?

Sorry for the lame "neewb" question...
I need to learn zbrush anyway...for work... but thats in a 3d painting kinda way..

That was nice, and helpful, though not really what I'm after... there is a porion in the movie where he is making some sort of armour, but just before you get to that point, he is making weird arrows and other geometrical shapes in white, grey and black poke randomly at the screen...that part is what Im after.

I can fully accept that it could be zBrush, I'm just wondering how/where/what you do to be able to draw those shapes like that... I have seen nothing in zBrush2 that looks even remotely like what he does in the workshop-video...

In fact, it even states that it is Android Jones' shape and Boss creation in zBrush, but I still have no clue as how to actually paint like that in zBrush
