I love your characters and the paintings and the fact you are not afraid of using bright colors. Great stuff.

You get sent these images while doing the magic cards as inspiration. That blue, goaty, goblin guy was one of the cards that I admired when it arrived in my inbox, just never realised who did it. Lovely work Scott and I agree with others that your colour palette is exquisite.

Hey Scott, it's great to see you make an appearance! The new stuff is looking awesome. I especially like the puca mischief piece, it's a really well composed scene, it's nicely lit and there's lots of interesting little story elements to it. I like the last one for it's boldness too, the lighting effects are great. For ccrits, the only littlethings I see are the hands on the blue chick with the gun maybe needing a little more attention, especially the index finger on the barrel, and the gun site cylinder looks to get a bit squashed where the bracket is attached.

Awesome batch of stuff, man. Hope you're well....

Mark Winters- Thank you sir. I like that term...bad-assery. Although that could be interpreted many ways

RustyBaby - Dave you are way too kind. The I remember seeing some of your images in the inspiration folder we were sent, but I knew it was you right away! Thanks again the good words and giving us all a kick in the ass.

DeadMellotron- Hey buddy Your crits are dead on, and now that I am looking at the blue-chick piece, I am thinking I should hide it! I am seeing alot of weak design, and drawing parts in it, that I didn't see before. Something I am still learning is pacing myself- and there looks to be some rushed areas that could have been avoided if I just slowed down. I will learn- I swear!

Nubb- thank you - way too kind. Your avatar rules.

sabin- thanks! I am glad you like that one .

Ralph - Thanks so much sir. Means alot coming from a kickass artist as yourself. Keep fighting the good fight. I don't know what that means in this context, but it seemed appropriate.

Beautiful update! I'm really digging the Wings & Flight pieces. And I always love seeing the various submission sketches. The other two thumbs seemed quite strong as well... what was the ultimate factor in choosing the sketch that went to final? Just curious!

small update with sketches at bottom of first post:

Sundance- Thanks Dan! I appreciate it.

Chupacabra -Khan you are the man. Thanks for always giving me support and a kick in the ass.

Twitchfinger- thank you! I actually just added some other sketches for those that are curious. To be quite honest - I didn't get to pick the sketch, and a lot of times I am not given a reason as to why a sketch is selected. For the most part - I see publishers tend to go for the image that looks, well...most like a book cover. That is usually something iconic - up close on the figures, that sort of thing. I just try to make each sketch something I wouldn't mind taking to final - even if I do prefer one over the other.

Beautiful work. Weird, I just found your work on TOR.com today and fell in love with it, bookmarked your site, then I stumbled on this thread about an hour later. Veird. Are you on DeviantArt, too? If so, I want to stalk you.

Amazing work. Tonal work is powerful and so is the color. You've inspired the Dicken's out of me.

    Hey Scott-

Your work is totally awesome, and it was great meeting you in person last week. Seeing your work up close and personal is whole different experience, I am impressed with how you handle color.

I really love your little sketch studies too, they are finished pieces in themselves in a way. How long do those take you? I could see you doing a whole comic or illustrated book with little painted sketches like that.

Keep up the fine work, my friend!

Ralph- Ahh- no surprise you sold that painting. It's a beauty. Post some art when you get a free moment good sir.Always a pleasure to see what you are up to.

Blue Severin -ahh..thanks so much dude. Ass kickn' is what I hope to do.

Ray Dillon- I really appreciate the support my friend. I could use a good stalker too...my life has been incomplete without one

    psychoboy- thanks! I am trying

Muttonhead - Hey Sean! Was awesome getting to meet you. Next time you'll have to hang out with everyone and enjoy a drink or three. I really appreciate the kind words. Means alot.

As for the sketches...do you mean the character ones above or the little sketches I had on the table at IlluxCon? Truthfully, the time isn't that different- probably a few hours each. Anything from 4-8 hours I am guesing? Give or take, since I usually do them on breaks and inbetween other work.
I have definitely been ruminating on where I can take these sketches. I love doing them and they seem to get a fairly good response. Talk soon mate!

KenDeathWalker -The image is for this book by Seamus Cooper, called The Mall of Cthulhu. It's part comedy and part horror, not unlike Evil Dead or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I hate to make comparisons, but I think fans of either will like this book. It's a good book and I found myself laughing at alot of the parts. I think it's being published next month, but I am not certain. My goal was to try and convey an image with both humour and horror..I hope I did it!
Thanks for the kind comment sir
