Anyhow, you've been a big inspiration for me.

    Cheers!

    lovely update man!
I can totally relate to the urge of not rendering stuff when you're off work.
I tend to sketcha lot, just stupid drawing and careless moving about with the pen hehe.

Very juicy colors in those oil painting. Any thoughts behind the looseness or is it just due tue the fact that they're fast paintings?

Anyways, I hope all is well with you and yours and please share some more sketches, they're great to loook at.

    peace.
    Bjorn.

hey y'allz....so i finally got my shit together today and figured id do a little sketchbook update. been a busy past couple months, working on all kinds of stuff, work and personal. mostly work, but, hey thats how it goes sometimes. at least i have my weekly painting class and my trusty moleskine to keep the quick stuff going.

hurricane: thanks bro! yeah i have been working on some stuff hopefully i can show soon where im trying to find a nice balance between the render battle and the looseness. i think im finally starting to figure this digital painting thing out a bit. as for the looseness of the oils, its more a time thing than anything, but too ive learned that i get lucky with my marks sometimes, and if i refine certain things too much, i do so at the expense of losing the sitters likeness or some of the spontanaety. hope you are doing well these days!

    Alex Alexandrov thanks man!

lilnebo: hahaha yeah this is my favorite avatar so far. im a marvo fan fo sho. thanks for the kind words>

Jeff Bartzis: thanbks man. ill try to make it over there.

RedGallo: haha you are too kind. trust me they arent all that great in person.

    Iridyse: thanks!

bhanu: yer hilarious dude! i hardly think im a god man. im just a lucky idiot who gets to paint for a living, nothing more. thanks for the kind words. hope yer well.

Chupacabra: hhaha break em out dude. i dont think ill ever be able to put the brushes down permanently. its too much fun. hope yer well man!

Form: you know me. always cheery and shit. be good.

BohemianChaos: thanks dude! yeah i dont know why id never drawn the alien penis before....i thought id drawn every possible variation

Art_Addict: im not too clear on what you mean by form painting, but how you describe is how i basically paint all of my studio paintings. i dont block or mass in of my cityscapes, still lifes, or finished figurative stuff. its all pretty much done in one pass with very little blending over an underdrawing. i very rarely rework areas because im very careful to lay in my values and forms as i work on top of the tight drawing.

for alla prima stuff, im not doing any under drawing, so its easier to massthings in and rework as i go. it just makes sense to work that way with the time constraints. but, yeah rendering form without reworking is challenging as it requires a fair amount of planning and an understanding of what the paint is gonna do.
hope that answers your question... hope yer well dude!

M-LAN: thanks a ton man...stay tuned..theres a bunch more bum stuff coming real soon

    GRMC: thanks man

Hive_minD: thanks so much man. ill keep tryin' so keep lookin

    csteingart: thanks dude!

strybjorn: haha yeah the sword is my favorite thing in that last dump i think..doesnt take much for me the class i teach weekly has been how ive been able to keep painting. its still a challenge tho! thanks for looking!

Wasker: thanks brother. hope yer well.

i wanna make a baby right now.......

Taj: its totally true dude. or at least thats what a fool believes..what a fool believes....thats the best song evar!

OmenSpirits: thats the key my man.

MattGamer: thanks man. these portraits are all done from life, at the NEXT GEN ATELIER© wherei teach every week. it rocks there! yay school!(end of plug) hope yer well dude!

    eskanto: its science man.

entdroid: thanks man i liked that one too

Farvus: id like to think my shit is evolving in some way, although its hard for me to separate myself from it to actually see any progress :?, but if it means heading in a rougher direction i guess i gotta just follow what comes naturally. luckily ill still have marketing illos to do at work to keep me rendering YAY!

Gloominati: thanks man. the more i do of these the more i learn. its so much fun. if i could id just paint portraits all day too bad ive got bills to pay and not enough talent to be able to sustain my family off of my portraits maybe someday haha

    MeTaL-Mike : thanks. between 1.5-3 hours usually.

Chuck, mate. thanks pat. hope all is well with you dude!

    Victor B: thanks man...im tryin'
    hope you enjoyed the vid!

Hybrid_75: you sir, are way too kind thanks for looking...

Dished: haha thanks. these are all done in around 2 hours each, alla prima, no underdrawing or underpainting. bnasically just an oil sketch thanks for stoppin by!

so heres my offering for today, more class stuff and some random ink drawings from life or my head, and a few digital paints, one of my dog from life, a little enviro sketch, and a homeless man fixing to fight a monster. hope you like!!!
