LadyHydralisk: not sure I understand what you mean by facteur in relation to drawing.

Bidi: Thanks. Someone at the place I used to work said he knew someone who looked like me. And listened to the same music I listen to. Sometimes I wonder if there are only X number of archetypes of people to choose from, and if one day I'll bump into myself.

more figures and attempts at drawing myself:

Hello there long-haired dude. Nice stuff you have here. I like those life drawings the most. Naked girls - good. What I may suggest is not to draw one single line starting from the very top and finishing at the very bottom. Makes them look kind of flat. See HERE, the work of Glenn Villpu. Watch the lines, the way they interact. The drawings look more alive this way.

guoache + ink hatched lines is kind of a precarious and dangerous foray... but the draftsmanship is here, and the figure drawings are quite solid. Obviously you've gotten to where you're at with your art through much expirementation, and part of expirementation is expirements that don't go well. in this one it feels like the torso is too long/tall to be in this seated position. like the torso could look like that if she were standing, or stretching upward, but not reclining.

keep up the great progress ... these are looking awesome! Looking forward to meeting up and sketching next week! whee!

razz: I see what you're saying. I think I tighten up too much when figure drawing. I'll try to make things flow better next time I draw from the model.
dwan: Color & value studies, yes, must do more of those. Thanks for checking out my SB.
guggenmaneuver: Yeah my figure drawings all look strange I think. Wonky proportions, disjointed body parts, etc. I just need to draw from life more. A lot more. Thanks for stopping by.

Heres a figure from last Friday. Unfortunately figure drawing sessions wont start up again till middle of January. And some sort of vehicle. Having trouble with ellipses. And last one is a redesign of some of my critters from CHOW100.

    thanks beast.

Heres a small color test. Apparently the 'soft light' layer mode works much better than the 'color' layer mode for colorizing grayscale. Wish I had figured that out earlier.

Damn, man! That last update is sweet! Those gun silhouettes are very strong. The distribution of masses and shapes is attractive, and the silhouettes are conservative enough to be believable while still remaining interesting and unique. I'm absolutely digging those shell-based characters as well, particularly those floating, shadowy carapaces. Crustacean exoskeletons are some of my favorite forms in the animal kingdom, and you used them in a very original and beautiful way in those designs.
Very nice job on those redesigns and renderings of your CoW 100 creatures, also.
Great work! It'll be a pleasure working with you in Team ChoW.

I really like your life drawings. This creature is really cool too.

Yeah, I never could get "color" mode to work for me also. Some artists like to use Overlay too. Did it take only a few applications of color in soft light?

Moai: Word. Crustaceans and bugs are always floating around in my mind. Exoskeleton shapes never cease to amaze. Glad you like the guns, I need to try rendering those out sometime.

Dizon: Yeah from what I remember I just did a quick pass of color using soft light. That was done a long time ago though so its hard to remember how exactly I did it. I seem to approach every digital painting in a slightly different way. Lately I'm trying to avoid layer modes and just slap colors down as much as possible. I get frustrated using modes because the colors will come out brighter or more saturated or more gray than what I actually want.

sketches done while waiting for daestwen to post the TCHOW2 brief:
