JEREMY WANTS TO BE AN ILLUSTRATOR!!!

[EDIT] This account is dead but this is my fist sketchbook and i contains my humble beginnings as an artist. This entire sketchbook is what it is like to have no goals lol. I have one now. Please set goals! Don't do what i did! Anyway enjoy ]

I started this sketchbook to see
what people thought of my skill and to get better, bounce ideas ect. So I just switched
my major from architecture to graphic design. My parents weren't too impressed but
architecture wasn't my thing. I am doomed to be an art bum... ha ha, jokes but its
what makes me happy and I think that's what's most important in life. Anyway crits are
a must and tips too. Thanks for helping me out.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well here is my second photoshop job and post ever... and it looks ok
its also my first speed paint on photoshop... I wanted to see what it was like
    so...

    Post befor the new year

I am about to start full study in architecture in 2008 so now i get to do environmental art and building design... hurray

Anyway i started studying anatomy again and I looked around for some new refs and i found this CedarSeed guy on deviant art who went to a heck of a lot of trouble making tutorials for artists. Unfortunately he doesn't have an account here but i messenged him to join here because he is truly amazing. Anyway since the shares his art publicly already i figured everyone here should benefit to so I'm posting all his tutorial stuff here. Enjoy Thx to CedarSeed

    QUick doodle

This time i was focused on the expression its not huge but its a start. I reckon the expression of the piece makes a massive difference

I'm gonna try a colour expression next hopefully it'll be a massive improvement since my last color.

    peace!

Hey rem, coming alone nicely. I like the expression in the last piece, but don't forget that hands are equal to the face in terms of expressiveness. Add a couple of hands in the right pose and you'll be on to a winner here. keep sharing

Good, you are getting better! When your drawing form pictures old your drawing next to the picture. take a step back and see if you getting those proportion down. And don't rush things, take your time till you feel satified of the finished work. Looking at your work I say its time you start going into anatomy. Know your photoshop work. Its helpful that you undertand traditional painting before you start working in digital. When doing characters don't be afraid to use reference.

Environment attempt NO. 1 a water fall using no ref... should use a ref next time any who. I'm starting to study Bumskee and Magic Man, I think they have both come so far and their journey is right friken here for me to learn from so I'm doing that.

Heavy crits if you even look at it!!! I want desperately to become a half decent artist.

    2. Life
    3. Anatomy - Animal
    4. Anatomy - Human
    5. Face (Head)

Hope you are enjoying your wacom. Try to stay away from straight from the tube colors. They tend to make paintings look more graphic and less realistic. Try to throw life drawing into the mix if you can. Public places are a blessing and you can observe many body times along side some of the nice anatomy studies you have going. I like the drawing of the building the best. I'm still brushing up on my perspective.
Make a sketchbook happy, feed it a tip to improve!

did you have a ref on the last one? cos there seems to be no variation in nuances of color, for example, the grass is hardly ever just green, but varies from green with brown, blue or yellow or red or whatever, same goes for everything. study the variation in color with the same intense as with the tones, wich i think you did really great. if the ref really was that plane in color, next time you might choose a picture that is more challenging in that area.
and also, i really like thoses pencil sketches of yours a lot! keep up the good work!

thx for the crit... seriously how am I supposed to know what's wrong

colour variety ay, I will defiantly have a whack next enviro. I heard that you need to mix green in your skin tones... don't know why. I have been sticking to the tube colours too much I guess. Its hard though I have no idea how to mix colour digitally... maybe there is a tutorial some were? any way I'm getting into this deep thing.

    Wip and research:

Hey Remmy, good persp study. It will come very useful. Quick remark, the reflections should go to the same vanishing point as the buildings which is not quite happening on the left side reflection.

Also, I would try and differ the two facades, value-wise, because the light is probably hitting one of them more than the other and it will make the picture more interesting, but if it's just a persp study- it's fine.
