    When do people get scholarships?

    Hi,
I'm currently a freshmen and I was wondering when most colleges give out scholarships. Is it always for seniors or is it possible for a freshmen-junior to snag one.
Also are there any scholarships for art students in northern California and if so what do I have to prepare for to get one?

Hi, a school generally does not award scholarships until your senior year. Besides, you wouldn't want to do it earlier, gives you more time to submit an awesome portfolio.

But this not to say you can't start getting outside scholarships now (ones from companies/organizations...not the schools). There are many (albeit small) scholarships offered to many ages. Try www.freewebs.com or your school counselor.

Ah! As a freshman, you are in prime position to get and maintain a high GPA - thus qualifying you for academically based scholarships.
    Seriously. Do it.
