    problem making open canvas work

    Hi,
i got open canvas v1.1, and would like to share a canvas with a friend.
I open the network window, type in the IP, but when i try to connect to him (or when he tries to connect to me),
it sorts an error like #^{#!!! 10060 (the only real thing is the 10060)

    Could you help me plz?
What kind of things could make open canvas not work?
could it be something like a port problem? what do i have to type in?

    thx a lot !!
    Cya...

ryu - ive had problems like that many times. the only things that come to mind that make that error come up, is a possible firewall issue, or maybe if you have a router..might have to tweak that, or maybe trying a different IP address.

just mess with that stuff and itll work eventually,i had a friend who wanted to network, and we got that error, he had to do a bunch of stuff that i didn't know anything about...and he ended up gettin it to work. so thats pretty much all i can help u out with. just tinker with it...until it works.

o and if anyone wants to OC, PM me...or u can reach me on aim: brkofdon

    ok laterz

Does anyone know how to get the proggie to vary line width rather than transparency? The buttons on the brush window don't seem to do it.

If it's using a tablet go to the brush window and de-activate varying pressure (it's one of the 3 buttons underneath the disk icon) OC sets pressure and pen width variation on be default, so you should be able to deactivate the pressure to get just line width.

If you've got a mouse then hard luck, OC doesn't have line variation for that

oh, and about the Alt-Gr thing. It's a feature that you only get on some keyboards I think. I used to have a keyboard that didn't have it, now I've got one with it and it doesn't always work the same as normal alt. For one thing, I have to use "left alt + enter" for full screen when watching videos. And it does triger the size variation in OC, same as ctrl-alt

brkofdon- those are lovely and i'd love to see the process but the files are not *.wpe they are *wpb, and changing the extention doesn't let OC open them, could you put them up again?

    cheers

    N

edit, never mind that, i forget that with OC i can open the image then create the .wpe file, me stupid, :-p

UrbanMafia - well if you go to help and check english instead of japanese, things will be a lot better! and also in the help is pretty much all the keyboard shortcuts.

this program doesn't necessarily need a tutorial if you already know how to use painter or photoshop! they all follow the same guidelines! i think in this thread somewhere is a tutorial well more of ppl posting what they know about it. so just read threw and you can pick it up rather easily!

    Hi,
my very first attempt to use OpenCanvas, thanx to Loggie!
it is a real pleasure as it's a simple and intuitive software. I need to do some more anyway... and get used to the tools.

ni* - you have to have opencanvas 3 (full), to view .oe3 files! the only file format you can export in opencanvas 1.1 is .wpe files. it sorta sux if you dont have a cracked version of oc3, or haven't bought it yet. cuz you wont be able to see barontieri's beautifull paintings!

barontieri - im really stoked that your digging this program. the opencanvas thread hasn't been real alive lately! your defintly giving it a oomph! please more please!!!! im learning a lot from these.

...how long did these take you?!?!

(if you have anytime, would you want to network one of these days? i know id learn a lot more if we did)

I was offered the opportunity to review OpenCanvas 3 Plus ... very nice. I review quite a few products and felt that this products ability to play back events really set it above lots of the other tools ... especially as a teaching aid ... a lovely tool for seeing other artists thought and work processes. The link to my review is below. If you like open canvas also check out Dogwaffle ... it has some very nice brush tools. As well as some great concepts.

I trust I'm not breaking any rules posting this review link. If so I'm sorry.
