I bought an R4 card and all the kit today, can't wait for it to get here. Digital Painting on the move sounds like a good way to improve.

Is there anyway to export your colors files to file that would be compatible in either photoshop or painter. I would love to be able to work on some quick sketchs on the train and then work on them further at home on my computer.

Well, if you have wifi, you can email yourself a png or you can also copy files over from your memory card via a card reader. You can also copy the .drw file over to your computer and load them up in the java applet and watch the redraw process (just like on the colors.bromba.net site) and/or save them out from there as well. There aren't any applications that'll currently open up the .drw files (aside from the aforementioned java app) but since it's basically a flat file with no layers or anything else besides the final image that would need to be saved, a png does just fine if you want to continue on in photoshop (or whatnot).

I don't play much game and already got a PSP for media stuffs, I want to do more draw, and would most likely use the DS for Colors only. Looking around, it would cost me about $220 to get all the things need for Colors. Can I just check with everybody that have try it. Is it worth it?

    Many thanks

Edit: - Never mind I couldn't help but go and brought one from ebay (it is a Crimson though, figures cross I don't get any trouble with it). I check on a game forum and it mentions the CycloDS is the best Flashcard for the DS, was wondering if anybody got one of those and if it Colors work on it.

    Many thanks

    This thing is cool!

I wish the screen was bigger, but if it was, it wouldn't fit in my pocket.

Once the baby is asleep, I can balance him on my shoulder while I paint. Couldn't do that so much with the wacom.

Man my DS's pen calibration went BONKERS after a week of using Colors
Now my DS is a glorified GBA ugh.

Perhaps it was karma for the nes games I also threw on there > <

I just barely got Colors set up on my DS this is my first attempt. I didnt feel comfortable drawing from my head that small so I just did a study from some photo reference I found online (the photo is by Jiri Bohdal and is used without permission).

this is the link to the .drw if you want to see the process

Finally got around to getting Colors on my DS, this is an awesome portable sketchbook.

Also, got this amazing animation program on there. It's very well done, works like most gif animation makers for the PC.. complete with onion skin, undo, colors, fill, speed control, saving, loading, etc. Best of all, it plays the animation on the top screen, adding in each new frame as you draw it.

    Need help!

    Hi All,
I can't make it work!! I've got a MacBook and newly arrived R4 with microSD and USB stick. I've downloaded English 1.18.rar and unzipped with UnRarX, tranferred files to card and when I put into the DS it just says "Loading".
I'm a bit concerned as I've read in another forum that this means a dud R4!!!
Please help I wanted to take over my 9 year olds DS while he was at school
I was thinking of getting my own if I can make colours work!

Well thanks to a guy on youtube I've discovered I bought the wrong microSD card. I bought a MicroSDHC which it didn't like. Fortunately my husbands phone has a MicroSD card which I've now pinched, so I'm happy!!!!!! Great thread BTW. Will enjoy looking round here now I've stumbled in!!!

Bout the Iphone version: I think its not so exact since you will have to paint with your finger(s?).

I'm getting my DS on tuesday, just ordered the R4 from Amazon, should Arrive till then.

Its amazing how much other great software there is for homebrew. GlichDS for example is something like the Kaossilator for the DS. Well not exactly but there is so much music sequencer, sampler and whatnot software. Even whole organizer programs..

I see I'm gonna spend a lot of time with this thing. In early 2009 the new DSi will come out but I cant wait that long...

Oh and did I mention the NES and ScummVM emulators? All NES games on DS? How awesome is that?
