I need help with shading with a pencil. I just don't know how to make it look good. Any tutorials that give pointers?
Be more specific, what are you having trouble with? Theory or technique? AFAIR there are some notes on pencil shading on http://www.portrait-artist.org - not all that helpful but it's a start.
How about you post some examples of pictures you're having trouble with? And you're not alone by the way, I'm having a hard time learning to shade properly as well.
