The Gare Bear Count Down --- (Garrett Hanna's Sketchbook) Dec.11th 2007 Update

    Hey everyone!

I've decided to start up a sketchbook here on Conceptart.org because I've been peaking around and finding some amazing and inspiring artists here and I'd love to get some solid and very useful feedback on my work from y'all.

So I'll just dump some new and old stuff I've got.

Did this using mainly Mathias' brushes.

    also using Mathias' brushes.

I'm not too fond of this one but it goes up because I did it recently.

Not a hug fan of this one either.

    HOUSE

Concept art for my group film project this year.

Background I did for digital painting class.

Life drawing I coloured on the computer using Idiot Apathy's technique.

Cafe drawings from last year. I plan to do a lot of more of these because I want to get good at them. I don't have that amazing caricature touch some people have.

    Thanks for looking!!!

    Thumbs up

I'm liking these paintings you have here, the second and third ones really stand out to me, the movement and direction in those two is real nice. The cafe drawings are pretty cool too, they're not overly exaggerated like typical caricature drawings but they still have plenty personality. The House portrait cracked me up, it really captures that miserable but arrogant look he has in the show.

Looking forward to the next update.

    Garrett Hanna's sketchbook --- October 28th update

    Ruffy: Thanks man!

Kveye: Thank you. I love M@'s brushes man. so many cool textures.

Sofa King: Thanks, those ones are also my personal favourites. I think feeling should come first in an image and structure and anatomy and all that second. Even though I don't always do that, I still think it should be the way to go about art.

daveneale: Thanks man, ya I was tweaking the order of the images and whatnot for a bit there.

    matejkovacic: Thanks dude.

Amazing Action Ape Hey Braden! Thanks man, I like that piece because I did it a couple years ago and I've tried to reproduce the style but I'm always unsuccessful. SHERIDAN REPRESENT!!!

Flipnastywebby Thanks man! Ya go give them a try, I highly recommend them.

Tigermilk No problem man, and thanks! I love Frank Frazetta. He's my favourite and the most inspiring artist to me.

skrubbles Thank you skrubbles, much appreciated.

I got a couple new things here. I was trying a different style. More cartoony. I like to switch things up when I do one genre too much. I get bored easily.

    Thanks for looking!

JesArt Thanks! I love seeing art that has life and motion in it so I've been trying to get it in my stuff lately. It's really hard though.

Couple new things and a WIP.

    Hey nice works,

I like the cyclopse, great expression on him.

You have some great work on your blog, the cartoon animals from the zoo, the life drawing stuff, the monkey that needs genital to genital connection animation! awesome!, and this one is funny: http://bp2.blogger.com/_ZyWS57tcaa8/...600/Trevor.jpg

    Really fun to look through.

I like this recent batch you've put up, and I like the textures on the helmet and the expression, but be careful with the perspective. Something about that one just doesnt sit right with me. The other two are pretty cool, the second one is painted well, but seems rather boring compositionally. The third is great, nice lines of action, good motion, looking forward to seeing you work this one up, but watch your proportions though, the fuzzy monster's left hand is far smaller than the right.

Mr Joe THanks man! I'm really happy you enjoy the more cartoony stuff on my blog. I love doing it so it's really appreciated man. Thankyou!

Amazing Action Ape You're right Braden. The composition is boring on the viking one and the perspective is a bit wonky on the helmet one. I still need to pay more attention to stuff like that when I approach an image. With the cyclops though, his hands were suppose to be in perspective. I guess if you didn't see it then I didn't do my job correctly lol. I'll work on it some more. Thanks a lot for the critique man.

Marioucci Wow thanks man! Very flattering thing to say haha!

Ugg. This semester is almost over and then I can get some more of my own work done to put up here. This isn't a big update but I'll try a lot harder to update this thread more frequently.

The one of the Knight with the red sky is a work in progress. Critiques are more then welcome!
