When I grow up, I want to be Robolus!

Something that's so great about your sketchbook is the versatility. Not only in medium, but also in style. You master cartoony AND realistic.

Pretty cool you started (or re-started) painting. Can't wait for your paintings when you get better at it! I'm sure they'll be as grand as your drawings.

Great stuff man. I am loving your master copies...I would love to see more oils.

You did some street drawing? That is so cool man, I have always wondered how you go about that. They look great

dro1d: Wow, many thanks for your words. Like almost everybody else here I began to draw as a chield. But only Cartoon and Caricatures (and that very sporadic). I started to study the first time anatomy and more realistic stuff 4 years ago.

Dan: Oh Mann, ist doch nicht Dienstag geworden, was solls. Ey, wann zeigst du mir mal wieder neue Sachen?

Ilja: I think that Master Copies are a very good way to study and improve.

Mastercopies are a very traditional way to learn. In past days, Artstudents did concentrate in the first years to do Lifedrawings, Anatomystudies, Castdrawings und Mastercopies. Only AFTER the student could prouve that he could rule the technique, he was allowed to start his first own compositions, drawings and paintings. You can see at the results of the 17. to 19. Century that they weren´t wrong.

According to the motto: Learn first to stand safe, before you try to run!

    To all others: MANY THANKS!

New Mastercopies, this time J. C. Leyendecker and Carl Barks.
    Oil on wooden plate
    J. C. Leyendecker 7 x 10 inch
    Carl Barks: 8 x 12 inch

The Colors are a little different because o the Scan, ... but what the hell, here they are:

Dudde robulus is da bom fools! i'm glad you updated cuz i still consider one of the best artists i've seen ever since i joined. i really enjoyed your copies. but for some reasons i dunno i dont like using the word copies heh. anyway awesome stuff. some stuff i see a little wierd are the colors, but then again you said it was because of scan. other than that your pic's are defintely of the classic style rather than the modern, more conceptual pics. of course that is not in any way demeaning because it is actually nice to have more artists with more emphasis on form and just the beauty of the human body rather than the flashiness of big guns. well thats all from me bud keep it up. hope to see you in the new workshop in san fran (if you go, anyway).
Da Vinci was a concept artist
11/30/03-11/30/05. Thanks CA, for all the great inspiration. When will I update? I dont know...

make a hole in your brain to put that inside.

    It s very funny,

in life you have theses kind of people who spend all their time say, I m an artist, i m a master, a great artist, I know art, I m , I m I m,blablablabla very boastful, see every people as shit.

and there is people like you Robolus, toooooooo modest, and simple, YOU ARE AN ARTIST, YOU ARE A MASTER, show your work, sketches to any one he ll stay speechless, your work, you art is just amazing, an so diferent, in any kind of art you are a master, believe it or not, it s just the truth, your art talks for you and any thing you d say it d be useless, your drawings are facts, you are an amazing artist, anatomy, characters, real portrait, in funny characters, it s amazing, i m speechles as any one who see your work.

so THANKS, I think any people would be agree with me, THANKS to be so human, so modest, it s good to see a real artist like you be so simple with others people, thanks to show us your drawings, great, amazing artist you ARE, keep that in mind.

and thanks to forgive my english, lol.

    THANKS AND TAKE CARE.

roger: Hey roger, no, the single pictures are free for the people I sketch, I get paid for the time by my customer.

Allpayed: Good to see you here my friend! Sketch Group? YES! October is bad, but what´s about a Saturday in November?

Icey, MIKECORRIERO, Deco, JadeDragon, Groover McNab: Maaany thanks!

obid619: Haha! Thanks man! Oh, I would love to see you guys in SF but I can´t come. Sniff! Ah well, next time.

Rusty: Rusty, it is no exaggeration when I say that I find that YOUR work rocks. Your words mean A LOT to me!

squal: Wow, I mean WOW!!! I have the same problem that I can´t really express what I like to say in english. I don´t see myself as an Artist (more like a draftsman). You thank me, but I have to Thank YOU, because your words did make my day!

    Rendering?

Something has happened here that goes beyond rendering ~ would love to see reference. I am seeing other things emerging all over these images that have a life of their own.

    Sweeeeet. New Robulus greatness!

I wish you would post more, I greatly admire your talents. These new drawings are superb. I really like that angry viking looking fellow. And that leg muscle structure study was inspirational as well as instructive. Thanks for all the neat things to look through here in this thread.

Well done, Robulus! More more more!
