Well, I am giving this a whirl, lets see where it takes me.

These are just some quick(ish) sketches I did today and yesterday using my newly acquired software (OpenCanvas)

The pencil sketches are a bit old.

The side view of the mans head is a WIP - can't get the lips the way I want them, so they're left out in this image post.

I suppose you are rather new to drawing.
If you are it seems you are doing stuff rightly. i like how you try out figures, it will take lots of hours of work but youll do well if you keep with it.

Digging the face pic, can see some decent studies happening. Watch the large head proportions that most of your pics have - makes all the characters look like 13 year olds.

Main thing, stop worrying about features and details for now! Just try and concentrate on major forms and contours in your studies. Break things down mentally into basic shapes or even do that on paper if you want. At the moment you're losing the forest for the trees. Force youself! Try some negative image studies, those are great at making your mind see the negative space around what you're drawing. There are some great tutorials in the CA tips and tricks section of the forum. They'll help you out plenty.

First of all... think in big lumps, the small ones come later. That means, basic figure drawing. Get bridgemans book (PDF.. Hell.. google it...) Hogarts is also very swell for human physiology. And never EVER forget to have fun while drawing dude

. Now here's the secret to drawintg Exellent..... PRACTICE. You'll get there...

I like the lady's ass like I said before. Her overall shape is also quite good.

The little girl's face on the contrary is a bit too masculine to me... I think it could be perhaps a bit more roundy and softer. I also don't really understand how her legs are, but you haven't really but that much effort to them I think. But at least her nose is lovely.

But I actually love that cute green robot you have there. I think I can't myself draw anything tecnical or anything that should look like metal. Also the little blue creature is well done. Its legs' shadows are especially nicely done.

Keep them coming.

Matte_Art: Yeah, I think that I started this a year after I graduated from highschool after lurking for a while. Then fell out of drawing, preoccupied with my first year of college, and my addiction to WoW (ugh). But I've put myself on the right path now. Thanks for taking the time to drop by.

Haha. Then we should retake it someday.

I think I have saw those faces before. I don't know did I mention back then, but it seems that the man's eyes are a bit odd - the one which is closer to us seems to be closed and the other one is open... or at least I see them so.

Those handies are actually quite good. I especially like the one that is illustrated from above. Did you get model from your own hand?

And then there is a man and some manly tools. Those you probably googled?

Hi, just wanted to wish you welcome to the SSG. Definitely a nice start you've got here. If you're looking for a structured approach to studying basics you could always take a peek in my "Drawing basics" thread (based mostly on using Vilppu's DM) - jump right in if you feel like taking that path as well. Otherwise mybe some of the link recommendations I've been given there could be useful.

I think what's most important is probably to make daily drawing a habit (if serious about improving quickly), that should be goal one: Draw SOMETHING every day. When that's a routine you could start thinking about "drawing for X hours every day" - and don't forget to have fun with your drawing. After all: If it's not fun - why do it?

Looking forward to following your progress. Keep drawing (preferably from life - I'm also learning loads from copydrawing from masters) and enjoy yourself.

Nice stuff you've got here, I think the quick sketches in #23 are particularly strong.

If I could advise you on anything, it would be to work on facial features and how they fit on the head. Loomis's book on Drawing the Head and Hands has a bunch of good advice regarding this, I recommend it.

Otherwise, welcome to the group and keep the drawings coming!
