    Review My Art Portfolio....

i posted quite a lot of my artworks, so i hope you guys will have the patience to view and critique it. i don't have much art background, until i stepped into college were i first had my formal art classes. i'm more on designing and not fine arts (oil pastels, paintings, skecthes, etc..) although i try my best to experiment on some mediums.

my major right now is computer graphic design, and i'm hoping to transfer to a university or an art school really soon if i get all my requirements done. this november, i'll be attending a National Portfolio Day near my area to have my portfolio critiqued on the schools that i'm eyeing to transfer. Also, i think that some schools will count it as a visual part of my application. so advices and critiques are very welcome and needed..

I'm eyeing on transferring to UConn, SVA and Pratt. And if you guys can suggest other schools around Connecticut or New York that has a nice art program. That would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

PS: Does anybody went to NPD? how was it??

Here it goes... *I still have some that i haven't included here*

    PASTELS

    BRUSH AND INK

    PEN

    RANDOM MEDIUM

    DIGITAL *just some of them*

Your digital stuff are your strongest pieces but your other stuff are not bad either. The one thing I could suggest is doing a full portrait, drawing a completed still life, and maybe some painting of something random. That would really flesh out your portfolio and touch on some areas that you haven't posted here.

What are your career objectives? You need to focus heavily on learning the fundamentals that will get you to a professional level in whatever field interests you. If illustration is your objective, such fundamentals are perspective, color, composition, value, figure drawing, etc. If you would like help with these things, try the link in my sig called "Concept Art 101".
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

NPDs are awesome, if nerve wrecking. It really depends from reviewer to reviewer, and how late in the day that you see them. It's a great experience, though.
Ditto what seedling said. Also, I'd try taking a step back from color right now, and try banging out some solid graphite or charcoal tonal or contour drawings of still lives. The first peice you posted has a fair amount of unintentional distortion [the teapot, vase, the way all of the tiems lay ontop of each other]. By doing some pieces without color, you'll be able to work on these problems directly, without temperature or application.

    Thanks for the feedbacks...

Seedling- i'm more on the computers side when it comes to art... like advertising and making posters, packaging. I haven't use graphite yet, and i'm bad at charcoal drawings. I try to do pencil drawings, and i think i have to push more effort on that.

Bluefruitbowl- nice. i'll try that coz in my drawing classes right now, they require us to use pastels, and not much of b&w stuffs..

You seem to be good at graphic design. That's great and you have a knack for it, but you need to study the basics more. I would say keep doing what you are doing and start observing more than you draw. Your facial proportions in particular will turn people off of a picture, no matter how well rendered the rest of the picture is.

Portraits and life drawings would be so helpful for you right now.
'Cuz life is full of your regrets, and I should be one...
