Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook and the kind words.

I really like the progress that you've shown from your first post to now. Your figures are a lot more proportional and their volume is getting much better.

One thing I've noticed on many of your clothed figures or figures with accessories, they lack differntiation from the body of the figure. In other words, they sometimes look a little more like a texture on the figure rather than an article with depth, dimension, and form all its own.

Here's a quote from colepoopface's Sketchbook Thread regarding this:

i think recently that has helped me is just craming it into my stupid face, "two things cannot exist in the same space" so when I add a grenade, i think about how it will lay across the top of the form, and where i am in relation to the grenade. When you add anything, think of its relationship to the form of your character. Also, studying where muscles connect has been incredibly helpful for my moving forms, its not a problem for me to determine how a bicep will lay across the arm, or the twist of a forearm now that i know where my Supinator Longus starts and finishes, and that the bicep actually connects to scapula and not the humorus.
I left in a little more after the specific part I was talking about because that is good stuff too.

Anyway, thanks again and keep up the good work!

Hi Crazy Pills, thank you for the comment and for pointing out that I have to think about the forms and some muscles studies will help too.

Trying to do them as soon as I can.
For now some "random" sketches and Zoo sketches we had to make. 2nd last are some space gun thumbs and I worked one out as a (speed)painting (+-1h30min):

Thank you Nutty, it's cool to do

For now, some robot thumbs (next assignment: design a robot and sub-model it) and I worked the girl at the right-bottom out (1st sheet of character thumbs). Now, when i look back at it, I should have kept the legs with the "pins, or swords whatever you want to call it " That's much cooler. It took me about 1hour.
    Anyway:

Hey Lyno, Cool thumb exercises. That last dude in the panel above with an arm missing cracks me up, you gotta revisit that one for sure ;-)

Thanks again Rand, when ever I make a "All hope is gone" or something scene, I'll think at it ^^.

Finally found some time to do some arm/leg studies (loomis) as promised at Crazy Pills .
I really hope someone will be able to tell me if these studies are correct and where things can improve, and I'm sure it can, so don't hold back please, I can only learn from it.

More, but it's hard to draw some loose, dynamic poses. I think I should check Vilppu out some time.
    Proportions need more work too.

i feel that environments are really your strong point. however i also think that your shots are pretty much all the same, and i think that maybe your horizon line is just in two different spots within frame? dont know could be wrong, but i would HIGHLY suggest that you check out feng zhu. i just checked out his dvd last night regarding on environments, actually and one thing he kept on mentioning is the rule of 3s:

    background: to show setting

mid ground: what you're trying to show

foreground: to get the viewer more attached to the shot.

all 3 of these work together in one shot.

anyways, check him out and i think he will definitely be a great help to you.

Hi redSpade, believe it or not but last night I was thinking I should do more environments and some vehicle sketches, things I really like to do
Thank you for for the tip and the 3 rules. I'll try to check out Feng Zhu.

I made some quick stills and I should try to do some more tomorrow. Select some and work them out. I'll also try to do some environments thumbs tomorrow.

When you draw your thumbnail silhouettes, are you envisioning the actual depths and forms that are making up the shapes or is it pretty much a simple 2D visualization? They look to be pretty dynamic and thought out. I'd like to see one of those thumbs implemented into a more detailed sketch or a speedpaint. Keep it up.

Crazy Pills, I just start and the most of the time I get an intresting pose, so the most of them are 2d visualizations. When I want to take it further, I start thinking about form .

I'll try to work some of them out but here are some vehicule sketches, and tomorrow it's robot time

Wonderful sketchbook. There is some real improvement from the first page up until now. The only thing I would recommend is to watch out for uneven proportions with the figure drawing, sometimes they look funny. If you're not already doing so, look at the loomis figure drawing book. If you need a link to it, please just say so

Thank you Matthew Forte. I'll think at the proportions.

I had to made a Self portret (front, side and 3/4) and paint the front SP for next lesson. I also made the next drawings in class:

Hi Grafguy, thanks for the tip and yes, I'm in Karl's class .

Here are the my drawings from the model class, some of them are made with the technique of blind contour drawing, one page from my sketchbook and a small and last update on the SP

hey man, really like some of the thumbnails you have been using, some very nice shapes.

i think some studies of the human bones would help with your figure work, proportions look a little off and some studies of the under structure could help when your drawing the figure from life, reference or imagination.

    cheers dude, keep it up

For now: a render of my robot we have to make in 3D. You can find the design sketch in post #141. Moddeling and unwrapping is done. Next thing to do is texturing

You have a whole lot of potential. The process illustrations are great to see, because it shows the design process as work. The diagrammatic illustrations for the mech chassis are a great resource as well. Keep at it, you're doing very well.

very hard mech stuff! I like more your mech then your human studies, but it means only you have to improve more anatomy then mechanical style!

I subscribed your SB, I'l hope you'll pot here often! Good work, dude!

Hi Odin_052 and anjin I hope not to disappoint you about the posting thing. I try to post often but I have a lot of work right know (C++, physics, 3d and drawing ^^). But monday you can expect a "finished" - it should be by monday- render of the robot.

Made some quick sketches. Not very happy how the vehicle turned out but I have to show everything, even the bad ones .

Nice to see you addressing all areas of the design process dude. Your getting quite a quantity of work here now. My only advice at this stage would be to start analyzing lighting and forms, as this will crop up soon and often. Keep sharing ;-)
