I just have to say I love the painting of the tree!
great to see lots of experimenting/drawing
Looking for work! ([email protected])
Thanks all! Somehow, it feels very strange to see people inspired by my work, while I am realizing more and more how much I've left to learn...It seems the tree painting is a hit...even though it's so simple. Perhaps a lesson to be learnt here?
I promised I'd do more of the still studies. Wanted to do more, but I enjoyed the movie too much. Hadn't seen it in a long time, but it was once, and perhaps still is, my favourite movie. I'll get back to it tomorrow, because there were some nice scenes I spotted while watching. As for guessing, this is just too easy, I bet the first one stumbling in here will recognize it immediately.

yo dude! i'vent been very active here for a while, but i checked your updates, and i was impressed by the diversity. you have a talent for fast adapting techniques. very useful for an illustrator![]()
i also think the stuff with the colored dots and stripes is beginning to work. first they were more like a lot of dots on a face, but now the dots and stripes are actually beginning to form the face! would be interesting to do more with that. ive no clue about the second movie btw
oh, and weres the tread for the postcard thing? looks nice

purb36: Who's scruffy lookin'?
Aj: Glad to hear that!
So, school's started again and I'm really looking forward to this year! I'm determined to work hard and learn more about where I stand and what I want, things that still remain elusive as ever. At least now I'm wondering about these things, so the answers will come in time. And of course I'm looking forward to making some kickass work that I can be proud of!
Below are some random sketchbook pages. I'm so chaotic! It might just help to study one thing more in-depth next. Overall, there are some things in here that I'm fairly happy with.

A pretty cheap update from me, but I'm very busy, and sadly not producing much art yet. Here's a few quick sketches while traveling. Pretty happy with the standing guy, especially the shoes.

OK have some more then. Really random things from the last few days, including a WIP abstract-ish piece. It's much much harder than some would have us believe. Good fun though.

Wow! Fucking cool figure painting!
The Oil over acrylic naked man from 1. September rocks! Like how its lit very much.

Thank you for the kind words. Funny how such a quick and small piece can work so well. Somehow I always had the idea that painting is something that has to take hours of work, but you can sketch with paint just as well!
Some quick mood/environment sketches done for school. I'm liking this way of sketching lately, it leaves much 'in the dark' about details. It allows for some chaos and randomness, and might yield something surprising you might not have thought of rationally. Thinking can be an obstacle, as I know too well.
Also included: a guy I built out of copper wire and little scraps. Also for school, but really fun to build too!

Something from a while back. I finally finished this piece. I've left out the name on the white board, as I don't feel comfortable showing it here. Not a very deep or exciting work, but it fits the purpose I guess. I've begun on the next piece, also a name plate of sorts. This time it's for a guy who has something with horses, having grown up on a farm. Again, really straightforward and simple, but it has to be, and it needs to be nothing more. This one's a little tricky because of the horses anatomy.

Back with some work. I finally finished the commission paintings, and luckily they were well received by the clients. I scrambled/blurred the names, for privacy reasons.
The rest of the post are all things I did in the last couple of days, including photographs of some figures I built out of scraps. A really fun project! Also some character sketches. I'd really like to do a little more ambitious personal piece, but school leaves me little time. Perhaps I need to find a compromise here.

Flaskpost, Ilex_paul, Gerbil Fetus: I appreciate the kind words! Stay tuned for a small update on the bit people somewhere this weekend...
And now, 2 quick sketches with quick PS colour overlays. Trying a little different approach.

I've taken this sketch into PS and fooled around a bit, see if I could render it. Most of the work I've done lately has been...sketchy, or at least loose. I'm having fun being meticulous and focused again. Obviously still WIP.
Oh and by the way, if all goes well, I'll be doing my first job as an illustrator soon! I have a meeting next Friday, to see what I can do. Exciting!

Here's a little more stuff I made for the school assignment with the puppets. It's a villain (who's still missing tape on his legs) and a few covers, and a kind of poster design. It's a collage done in PS with many, many photos. Not my usual fare, but then again, what is?
