I did do some construction, but I just erased the construction line afterwards. If by construction you mean drawing out the image first, drawing in the blocks of shadow and highlight, and drawing in the block areas of texture and colour.

Anyway, Vritra, could you help me with something?

I have a thread in the discovery section of the forums. The crux is, I am having trouble drawing darker texture without lowering the brightness of the colour. What can I do? Because if I lower the brightness, it simulates tone change.

Here's an example that I'm doing now, painting in 1 hue to simplify things.

This probably means that you're painting with too high a saturation to begin with. Use of saturation should be considered heavily and usually used sparingly, because it draws the eye.

Wow, the one on the left looks so real and shiny, it makes me feel like eating it even if I hate cherries.
