"Drawing on Air" to create 3D illustrations

This may sound like a nerdy post, but this new device really looks awesome and fun to use. I feel like sharing it to see what everyone thinks about it. Just imagine a 3D photoshop

Basically, it's a device to draw in 3d. Here is the description:
"By putting on a virtual reality mask, holding a stylus in one hand and a tracking device in the other, an artist can draw 3D objects in the air with unprecedented precision. This new system is called “Drawing on Air,” and researchers have designed the interface to be intuitive and provide the necessary control for artists to illustrate complicated artistic, scientific, and medical subjects."

    Oh, this is definitely cool.
However, I image it would feel highly awkward is there is no friction or the sensation of a surface whatsoever.

There's another system already out there where you use a stylus on an armature that has some sort of sensor and it produces 3D musculature on the screen relative to that armature. It's crazy looking but the results look pretty amazing. I think I saw the vid clip of it on YouTube.
