    Stuff and Things

Meat Man Mantis guy for Sam Hiti's character fight blog: FACA. Poor bastard lost in the first round.

Richard Dunn from Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! I laugh everytime I see that guy.

Rounds 1, 2 and 3 from last years Last Man Standing tournament.

My first and last (so far) watercolor attempt. Not sure why I haven't gone back to play with watercolor more, it's a lot of fun.

    Lady from photo reference

A couple drawings from a figure drawing class. (Crappy camera pics)

Painter playing that I really should get back to. From an image from the movie The Five Deadly Venoms

Round girl doodles for the FACA blog. Still working on it.

    And some random pen doodles.

Petey Poltergeist, my character for FACA 4.

A poster I finished up the other day for my friend's band: Thunderbird Kingsley. Check them out for some mean blues music.

A couple things from Steve Kim's now defunct mentor class. 90 min portrait of Eugene Hutz from Gogol Bordello and a sloth... thing. Still not sure what I was thinking on that piece.

Some great work in here, and I remember those LMS entries well, I really love the quirky style of the first one, the tones in it are fabulous! The frenetic doodle pages are fascinating too, just to see how an artist's mind works. Colours on the painter piece are looking good for a start, what will the background be like?

Only crit would be the legs on the figure drawings, but I'm guessing you're well aware of that, so I'll shut up and just say great SB!

Thanks for stopping by zephyri... 6 months ago! Damn, been a long time. The crit was definitely on point. I'm not too strong with the anatomy below the waist yet.

Here's my submission for the first round of LMS3 and the sketch that I started with. I had intended for him to be wearing a fish bowl on his head and a goldfish/bowl accessories floating around him. But I was running out of time and I had no idea how to pull off the rendering of the glass and reflections without it looking like garbage. Ended up looking a bit boring I think. But this piece is the farthest I've ever gone with the painterly look, so that's cool. Lyon ended up handing me my ass on a plater, btw.

I saw a gesture video by Glen Vilppu a few weeks back that a lot of good concepts on capturing the figure. I've been looking at posemaniacs.com and trying to apply those ideas. All around 2 minutes or less.

And some random doodles cause I have nothing better to show...

Ooh! I like the werewolf sketches. Werewolves are cool.
Your lines have a nice flow to them.

Really great pictures in this sketchbook! I love the variety of texture, feel, and look (of the way each piece is executed AND the characters themselves). I think I could learn a lot by observing your works. :3 Can't wait for an update!

Here's a t-shirt design I made for work called Sounds of the Samurai. Reads right to left: clank, slice, stab. Shirt color is "military green." If you like it, you can buy it here.

nice work ghill! i like and can relate to alot of stuff in here, i'm heavy into kung fu flicks, so seeing that 5 deadly venoms pic is awesome...and that pic from tim and eric awesome show-the first time i watched that, i was like wtf, but the show has grown on me and i like your rendering of richard dunn...also, your doodles are looking really good, a lot of motion flowing through them...can't wait for more!

Here's a little comic (my first attempt) I made as a present for my very special lady friend. Our dog, Punkers the Dog, loves her some eggs, and this is one of the many adventures she had (we think) before she was found by the shelter we adopted her from.

    And some doodles.

Dude, you hardly got any responses here so I opened this with some low expectations, but Geeze.... I love your sketches, the gestures and caricatures, super fluid and so much personality. I think these are great! No Idea why more people haven't posted but I hope you'll keep droppin' those pages here. If you haven't already you might like the sketchbook of Super Skoda. Some similiar attitudes in spots. And this guy is just COOL!! (Drops Stars)...

DAMN !! That was the good find of my evening!
I absolutely love your exaggerated figures and faces, even more than your more finished illustrations. They have more energy, you tend to lose it a bit when you push it further, dunno why. It's all great in here !

I also thought to Skoda while browsing your sb, i adore his work too, tho there is something different in your works i can't put the finger on. No better or worse, just that it's yours and his is his (wow)

Anyway, i'll be back, thanks for sharing

Wow, you guys are way too nice!

SeB C BiEn: Thanks a lot!

WBear_nessecities: Thanks! Hey, that was your second post in 3 years. You should stop by more often!

Clochette: Glad to hear it! I love all your work! Yeah, I lose a lot of energy in my work when I push it. I think I've got finish-a-phobia or something. I definitely needed to hear that because it needs some serious work. Thanks!

Bill: Thanks for stopping by again! Here comes some more crap!

Mray: Thanks! I've been admiring your work for a while and didn't know it. Always checked out your thread over at C9.

    Dandilion: Way too kind, thanks!

    HugeHarHar: Thanks man!

AustenFM: Thanks a lot! I hope you don't learn too much from me. That's what professionals are for!

Well, I was hoping I'd have something more substantial to show this time. Something more finished. Yeah, that didn't happen. So here's some more trash my hand puked out.
