Both of them are just wow,
I like your wonky lines when you do the life studies but teh confidence seems to fade away when you get to the detail, dont be afraid and you will reach all the highs. I am sorry I dont come here often, since your work has much spark and liveliness thats missing in most of the artworld. BRAVO!!! and

i would be really grateful if you could make yourself a little bit more clear about the details? maybe some examples?

i know im better with lines then with the fills, but its hard for me to tell where i'm on a good way, and where im doing bad. do you mean the very fast ones? or the faces and stuff? since on the fast ones i dont even have time to think about deatails and confidence, but on the faces im trying to find the hood directions for my strokes, but theyre hard to find... Im trying to get my drawing better though!

First confidence is a an adjective you have , its not something to think so when you make the sketches , you dont think about the confidence , you just have it.

this hand study, is detailed but each stroke s more of a guesswork the with other works where you have attempted a lot of rendering.
First you shoule know what you have to paint, then devise a plan to do it, leave no room for guesswork while studying.

again its about finding out what you want and how to get it, It seems you are going by the trial and error method to achieve the strokes and stuff.
To know you must see, and to see you must know .

i think im a trial and error guy yes. I do stuff, and then at a certain point, at once, something becomes clear.
not sure what an alternative for that would be though
some more sketches.
the one i worked out most is from a photograph. pushed it pretty far for my standards. Im not unsatisfied, but still lots to learn

ok, i bought a tablet, so i will be quite into digital drawign the coming time. no clue where to start though, any hints would be great! also on organizing workspace and stuff, or hotkeying. for example, does the wacom has some kind of undoing option? help would be greeeaat! here the first crappy trials...

These remind me of the time I tried painting with my off-hand, just as an exercise.

I have reassigned some of the functions of my Intuos. To do so, you need to go to control panel (for PC) or system preferences (Mac) and change them there. If you use more than one program, you may want to create a custom set for each one.

One of the first things you may want to do is change brush settings. Many people turn opacity to be pressure sensitive, this would be under "other settings" in your brush menu for Photoshop. (Looking at these, I suspect you are using photoshop)

Final bit of advice, you may find that putting a piece of paper on top of your tablet feels more natural, as the pen has more grip. I started out this way, until I got more comfortable with the hand-eye coordination required.

which wacom tablet did you get? must be a nice change from all the mouse work right?
I'm at school next monday, if you take laptop + tablet I'll be able to help you out with some tablet stuff. Or ask Yngwie, I guess he knows that too hehe.

For now some quick stuff: after installing the driver of the tablet (which you probably did right ) you can find the "wacom tablet properties" program, where you can change the standard shortcuts on the tablet and the pen to whichever ones you like.
Also in photoshop, Start setting up a round brush (in the "brushes" panel: window -> brushes) with opacity and flow set to pen pressure, spacing to 1, and size not set to pen pressure. And maybe also one other brush with just flow set to pen pressure.
Start choosing some colours and put them at 100% opacity on the canvas, to fill up the space. Then start painting with the basic round brush with slightly less pen pressure, to make all the in between values and colours.

And just read the "Digital Painting in PS" thread from Bumskee, I think that answers pretty much all the questions.

If you have been a trial and error guy, dont go into hotkeying and shortcuts right now.
A few things I learnt since I went digital:
Less pen pressure and opacity does mean that you will get results easily but it is not a good foundation,
dont depend too much of the digital part of it. And have fun at first.

thanks for the advice, i didnt even know i could change that, but now at least im a little bit less shaky! maybe ill take it with me to school tomorrow, but i'll be there pretty late, so you probably will be gone already after sues lesson.
