    American Abstract Artist- Barnett Newman

I have made the latest post to my blog featuring Barnett Newman. Before I started this blog I never knew so much about American Abstract Expressionism, all I knew really was Pollock. Creating this blog has given me a wealth of inspiration and I am so happy that America had this part of their history. I as a Brit am proud of our painters past and present, but I have to admit, I envy you for having such a great period. I have also updated the birthdays and the Title Competition is going great.

Having a period isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. The cramps, in particular, suck.
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

The guy who painted this used Bartnett Newman's vertical strips. http://www.portraitsociety.org/confe...s/galicano.jpg

    Notice the strong vertical.

See Seedling, you have to draw the line somewhere. Just not on canvas!

    Patdzon -- to you!

I *love* that portrait. That won the national competition a few years ago at the Portrait Society.

Although, you can really see how he's ripping off that great genius Barnett Newman! Gimme my vertical back! Its my vertical! Mine! Mine!

EDIT: I left a comment on his blog here: http://pollocksthebollocks.wordpress...arnett-newman/

I happen to know because not only is he filipino, he happens to be my neighbor! He uses that in almost all of his paintings.

I spent way too much time in Contemporary Art History studying Barnett Newman "declaring the space" with a stripe down the middle of the canvas to ever want to look at his work again. I'm not a person to judge the quality of art, but I can say his work didn't do anything for me.
