    Hi Anthis

Lovely studies...and I love your pest, he was one of my favs in that round. I like the way you added other subtle colours on his hind legs makes it interesting to look at.

Pixie Trick; Thanks, great advice. I usually spend ages trying to get a single stroke or area to look good. Using the media you mentioned should be good practice.
zou; Turtle was supposed to be some crashed airship. I'm no good at drawing anything mechanical though. The spartan camp is an activity here on the forums. Its located at the Community Activities, you should check it out!
sony; Thanks! Yea I'm not unhappy with that one.
MARMENTIDO; Hey! thats a while ago. Nice to see you're still around. Cheers
Angel Intheuk; Thanks, this one took me way too long though. I think I need to do more quick studies to speed up the process a little.
    NoodleDoodle; Haha, no problem.
polarRook; I'm feeling the same - loads of catching up to do. Good luck to you too!

Had to take a break because of an internship. Coming back here I realize that I don't like my work at all. I'm eager to get better but it just doesn't seem to work out. I think I'll need to go back to the basics and practice some fundamentals.

I love your digitals, especially the two-headed monster .
I do however have some remarks on the drawing of the naked lady, anatomy wise. The lowered arm looks a bit short. The face also looks a bit weird, cuz the face is seen almost from the side, but a large part of the face on the far side of the nose is visible.
But it might just be me

Fumble; Good point! thanks, I hadn't noticed that. I realize its totally off now ;/

    Studies again;
Lips from Bridgman+ Loomis, faces from Loomis.
Poses are from reference. Digital one is reffed from this picture.
I don't think I got the colours quite right though.

Sweet work, dude! It's awesome how much improvement there is, I guess doing all that anatomy study really paid off cos its evident in your drawings, at least to me.

    NoodleDoodle; Cheers, coming up!
Dizon; Group project is up next... having some fun there.
Gemmar; Progress feels awfully slow, but there's no other way but to keep it up I guess. Thank you!
Angel Intheuk; Haha, yea it's exactly the feel. Reference is from characterdesigns.com, I'd recommend it!
Verehin; Thanks! always enjoy the cow, though I'm having trouble 'finishing off' a piece.
    Hai; Coming up!

Bad and smallish update for now - Loomis studies, stuff from reference, and some sketches.

Stuff is piling up though - update soon!

Wouldn't call that a bad and smallish update! Lots of good stuff. I love the solidity and weight of your digital paints. Looking forward to that update.

I'm lovin the fashion model studies although watch your drawing. The proportions of the african model looks dodgy.

Hai; Thanks! my digital works feel horribly clumsy though.
Angel Intheuk; Cheers, took me long to get a decent look on those. Folds and clothing in general are tough.
Dizon; True, that one gave me headaches ;|
zou; Don't hesitate! I'm not afraid of harsh crits.

I never post any pencil sketches so here's a few.
Might finish the digi soldier later.

The last scan is for the SSG group project! I'm currently working on some digital sketches, I'll post them soon. Description will follow.

Studies from ref (all from characterdesigns.com)
Heads from some of the pencil ones are actually too big because I was viewing the paper from an angle while drawing. So you end up with the upper part being too big since you're correcting for drawing it 'further away'. Bit stupid, good reminder.

Done quite a few of these lately but photobucket keeps removing stuff.

    Hi Anthis,
got curious to see how much improvement could be seen in your SB from all your training...and that was A LOT! Really inspiring sketchbook that I'll definitely keep following. Admirable ambition, can't wait to do the camp drilling by your side. :-)

    hi anthis

it's good to see yours works again

but get ready for critics :
post 111 : the scene of the soldier is moody but his legs are shorts. You should work more, cuz the post 112 shows weird legs in the man.Perhaps the photo you used is distorted but the woman is also weird legged.

Post 112: the two portrait are good. But the one in the right: don't caught into details and loosing the unity of the face. The overall should be harmonious (perhaps with softening some parts)
some of the forehead in the level of the left eyes should be cropped
perhaps you should give another rendering pass for thise one.
his chest is low in saturation (seens lifeless)

oh yes i forgot, i m digging the golden soldier and the old man ( the profile )

so i hope you post more

sony; Glad you like it. Progress feels horribly slow!
Mindbendermind; Hey there! It's never enough.. Glad you joined in, I'll keep going!
zou; Thanks a lot, those are some very valid points.
Legs are a major weakness for me, pelvis too. It will be a focal point.
Good point on the portraits too. At first I thought the second one was much better, but I realized later some things were much worse. I think you are right. I do get caught up in some details, while the overall form should be more important. Thank you!

Joined the Chow this time. Other than that some studies from ref. My PC is old and messy. Concepts for the group project should be in there somewhere too.
Other than that I think I need to do way more quick studies from ref. Colour, value, form, that kind of thing. When it comes to that, I feel clueless sometimes. It's back to the basics. Onward quickly.

Dizon; Thank you! I feel my sense of colour and value is not too good, so I'm focusing on that for the moment. I just attempt the finished pieces every now and then to check for progress.
