Beautiful pencil work. I'm going to have to pick up some Bridgman. We have the same anatomy book as well. Very detailed book. No crits I can give you as I'm working on the same stuff and anything that could have been said has been. Keep it up.

TheBeast; Yeah... well I'm used to it. Tablet will be there at some point ;]. I enjoyed doing the skulls. And agreed having them facing different directions makes it a lot harder for me. But I'll practice what you mentioned, already working on more heads.

Heads (reference from Loomis), torsos (Bridgman), and some studies.

All those little poses are done for the Spartan Camp, under Community Activities. (draw 50 gestures each week). This is the 20th time I'm in, I think, starting round 6 or so.
Will be posting these once in a while to keep track of my progress ;P

The Curehead; Hey there again! Glad you like the thumbs. One of my better rounds though The Spartan Camp is a pretty good activity for keeping up a routine.
RandAlThor; Thank you. Yeah.. only sketching with the pencil at the moment. Dunno, usually find it hard to do a 'finished' piece in pencil.

I've been doing quite some torso studies lately, so there's a couple of those.
Also two DSG sketches, and an entry for this weeks Creature of the Week. First time participating, planning to do more in the future, though it takes me ages to finish one.

Let me comment on your colored pieces here...

4th image: In terms of value I think you should give more contrast by making the rat lighter in terms of value. Maybe he/she's being hit by a strong light? This would give a nice contrast against the really dark foreground, I think. Try to make a study in black and white to see if it will work.

5th: I think you could push the monster way more into the distance(atmospheric perspective) and make it much more bigger. Like you know how this massive thing could be covered by all the fog makes it more scary and mysterious.

6th: First thing I noticed is the right side of that big iceberg in the background. It's attracting to much attention. Soften the edges. Actually soften the whole thing. I think it would be more effective to give the monster more focus to emphasize how much of a threat this guy is. I'd probably do thumbnails.

Wow. Your figure drawings are amazing. They might be small but they convey a deep understanding of human motion. They all look very naturalistic.

You definitely have an incredibly imaginisitic side. I think it would be in your best interest to show more of the your imagination.

About the trench one; Yea I really wanted to have him emerging from behind, didn't quite work in the end. I did desaturate it in the end, guess not enough

IssyLMG; Thank you, nice to hear. I've noticed the studies start looking more like the book, and less shaky. Though I should probably spend some time trying to apply the lessons. I don't mind anatomy practice.

About your digitals, I'd like to see some more attention to texture. The first one in your latest batch isn't so bad, but there's not that much room for error anyways The others still feel a little smooth and 'photoshoppy'. Though, I'm not sure how much I can demand while you're still using a mouse.

I've been on a field trip to Madeira with college but I can't deny I've also been slacking which sucks.
Here's a couple of lame sketches, all from ref (book, internet, bridgman). Trying to work on my pencil drawings and get a better hang on sketching.

Hai!^^; Naw, you're completely right on that. Using a mouse makes fluent drawing/sketching hard, but texture should be possible. Tried using some textured brushes and overlay textures and such, but I'm no good at that. Although perhaps I should 'get to the basics' and normal brushes. No idea really.
About the activity; yeah.. Explained above. Trying to not let it happen again. I get rusty real quick.
lilnebo; Hah! that's what I keep telling myself. Bridgman makes for a good method, I'd recommend it to anyone. Cheers.

Nice pencil work here, good line quality especially within the studies just keep in mind the texture of you subject, I noticed this in the fruit bowl especially but the lighting is pretty good. The biggest thing that I noticed though would be the face in the last post, all of your features seem like they dont fit the person. If that makes sense, I mean that when you draw a face you cant just pick facial featrures out of a hat and hope that you come out with a succesful face, it has to fit in a way...

but ya I am looking to take classes also good luck and stop by my sketchbookand let me know what you think.

jedininjaman; Thank you. Having problems with texture to be honest, kind of messing around. The last few faces were from reference (roman statues), I didn't get the texture to look right though. That might be the reason. Good luck in your classes, will take a look later on.
Arteater; Hah, I'm glad. The Spartan Camp is under Community Activities. Its not in one of the subforums like Cow or Chow, but below. Its great practice, keeps you going. And what you said applies to me too; I don't really control color, I just give it some tries until I get lucky. See you at the activities!

Bridgman studies, 1.5hr DSG entries, and some figures. The small figures were done for the Spartan Camp, under Community Activities (50 gestures/week). We're at round 43 or so. I'd advice it to anyone.
Someone already notified me some of the explosions in one of the digitals are greenish. I often sample my colors to check on them because of color blindness, but this time I forgot.
