So, I don't think I've ever painted a piece for me mum. So, tonight I remedied that for her birthday.

Im looking for work! If your are interested, PM me and leave me your info!
Very powerful use of line here, and lots of other neat effects. I really like the way the paint appears to crack on the canvas as if this is an ancient painting.
your style is so beautiful i cant even tell how much i love it.
Just one Question, those "cracks" in your Images which make them look so rare and antique, is it just a texture you apply onto them ? I was looking for that kind of texture looong time. Is it possible to share it?![]()
I just noticed that there are newspaper clippings in the background! Was this done in traditional media?
Dang, I think I like that right process image as much as the final piece, the linework feels very graphic. Nice stuff man!
Amazing work! Your textures are fantastic!
Thanks, everyone!
@BenjaminL: Yes. I do a lot of misc analogue textures and scan them for overlays, brushes, background, etc.
@Lumos: I'm affraid not, Lumos, sorry. I consider them like my fingerprint, exclusive to my work. But, I can tell you how to do it yourself.
For my texture I photographed old cracked paint in my mudroom. I combined them into a grayscale layer that covered the whole piece (making the cracks everwhere). I convert that into a layer mask, then in the layer I paint various colors to simulate the undercoat.
Sometimes I use a copy of an earlier stage of the painting masked out with cracks. This would be realistic if it were traditional media. Does this make sense?
Maybe I need to tute this.
Anyway, a little more work on this series:

I totally understand that. And thanks for the informations, saw ur texture-experiments just after i posted, kinda stupid, that i thought it was just a pattern from the internet.
A tutorial on that would be awesome C:
fukken awesome style man!
Much thanks, guys. Good to hear positive feedback when I'm trying new things for me.
Lumos, not stupid, it very well could have been.
Here's some more progress on that piece. Not happy with the text though:

Wow! The sketch with the Balinese golem is pretty impressive! As is your work in general actually![]()
I somewhat agree with what carnalizer said though. It bugs me that the girl is with her back towards the golem. As if it surprised her from behind. And given its size, that would be a bit hard. I think she should be turned more like in the version on the middle thumbnail, with her back towards the viewer.
Keep posting and thanks for the inspiration!![]()
Yeah, I originally had her head twisted more towards him, but it was looking off. I actually like the torso facing the viewer a little. She's supposed to be determined and about to attack with her magiky-type staff.
Looking at it again, I think I need to turn her head back to connect her with him more. So, yeah some tweaks are in order.
Thanks for the crits! Always appreciated.![]()

Made a little progress last night. Unfortunately, I was too tired to see many of the issues I'm seeing today. But, I got some great crits from some co-workers and have a good idea what needs doing to get it back on track:
- Change sky color to pop golem. (more yellow)
- Fix perspective on forward arm.
- Bump saturation in places.
- Decide on a focus for the piece - Darken/silhouette golem to frame girl and push the eye her way. Push the lighting on her.
- Move the staff light on the arm back in Z to place her more directly underneath golem and increase depth.
- Adjust depth-fog on golem to increase his perceived scale.
