I like the pencil textures on yesterday's... agree with Farvus that it's good to do real life drawings once in a while - often the skills you learn there transfer over to the monitor better than digital drawings transfer to real life.

But I think it would be useful for you to study anatomy and proportions of the face more - not sure if you've heard these already but here are a few guidelines:

    - The eyes should be halfway between the chin and the top of the head
    - The eyebrows should be at the same height as the top of the earlobes
    - The bottom of the earlobes should be about the height of the bottom of your nose
    - The forehead should take up about a 1/3rd of the head, so in this drawing it should be a lot bigger and the other facial features should be smaller to fit into the space that's left.
    - Don't cut off the back of the skull, it should bulge out more - there's a whole brain in there after all, lol.

    Hope that helps...

For today's: I like the angle of the close-up a lot, very intense. Keep it up!

    I don't have earlobes tho...
And my head skull have sort of a curve at the top, if you watch from the front SP I clearly draw it.

I understand all you said and I also read a bit about it. On the other side when I draw my self I want more to do ''draw what you see'' instead of limiting my self to ''perfect proportion''. And when I draw from a picture, the distortion of the camera can make it sort of different. But anyways, I appreciate the tips you gave me

And here is a pic of me.

Cool, I could tell right away it was you! It's fun to see the real person after all those portraits.

Sorry I criticized the earlobes though! I didn't realize they really looked like that. But they're not wierd, just special.

About "draw what you see" vs "perfect proportion" - I agree it's good to just draw without worrying about being perfect all the time, but I also think that knowing where everything goes makes the work faster and easier. It's like... there are people who say you don't need good grammar to be a good writer, but it helps to know the rules, even if you don't always use them. Just my $0.02.

Anyways, if I ever criticize too much or something let me know, I really don't want to offend you... I like what you've done so far and it's pretty amazing for someone who just started drawing a few months ago.

I like the 3rd one (ooh glowy) and the last one. But how on earth did you look at yourself in the mirror from that angle and not strain your neck?

The pencil one from day 73 looks pretty good. As for digital ones. I like the mood in 72 one... Your head fades nicely into the darkness.

Painting on square canvas is quite risky beacause it's hard to make decent composition on it. Also sometimes it would be good if you could leave or add some space for the background. Especially the last one needs that.

    Keep it up.

Here is a massive update. I did all pencil day by day but the painting was done all yesterday and today. I also discovered this artist on top of CA page I didnt really know. I gotta admit, I got my third influence just there. I been playing with Shawn Barber color's and I gotta say, it helped me understand stuff.

So here is a massive update. Sorry for the lack of time for not posting so often...

And Farvus, I took your tips into consideration Thanks.

    Hope you like them

Nice idea . Just try to avoid using pitch black for shadow beacause it kills the illusion that the form is tangible.

@smoothgroove: Thanks for passing by, i'll make sure to drop by your SB tomorow. Lacking time today=(. I mostly paint it in Digital. I always start from a pencil draft and scan it.

@Farvus: I agree.... but I have to admit I use it when I'm not so satisfied with the result so it hide the mess

For #85 - haha, you graffitied your own SP... cool.

I have no crits for #86, except for maybe smoothing out the shading a little. Looking good.

I know all those pens could be better but I don't want to spend to much time on it. With work and other project, 30-45 minute is the best I can give. This one took me around 20min.

Cool to see you update this often, one thing you should work on,,, ill say it in english so other people can read =P. I think you still use too much ''pet'' strokes to shade, it would look a lot better if each different tone was clearly defined, more blocked, not just a bunch of strokes everywhere. For the moment you still leave white in dark areas because you dont fill it totally with your strokes and it breaks the volume/3d, each spot should be shadow, midtone, or highlights.. And your eyes still look a bit 2d .However , your colors are getting really nice !

Running between work, acrylics painting and portrait, I wanted to make something more for the 100th one. Spent around 5 hours on that one, so it should conclude for the last 3 day's. Hope you like it.

Your last one is big step forward. I especially like number four (from left). It seems the most volumetric and fresh.
