So I have been drawing my self portrait for 32 day's now. At first, I didn't know how far I wanted to bring this and then I figured out it was a very good exercise to do it daily. Call me a poser if you want, but when I came across Android poster I couldn't pass on this one. So thanks to Android for influencing me on this one

What is so good about this, is I make sure I draw daily, it practice visual perception and it turned out to color practice and learning painter at the same time. It is very rewarding. Now my only regret is I should have started this when I first started to draw a couple of months ago, to see the real evolution from zero. I'll be a couple of months late!

Anyways, this is how I usually proceed:
Wake up and pop a cup of coffee.
I always start with a sketch on paper drawn from the mirror or from a picture I take when I want a more difficult pose.
    Scan and paint!

Now, I'm not so sure how far I want to bring this but I'll update every day I can.

Comments and crits are more than welcome!

Hey. Good job. I like the one from day 29.

To me it's not being a poser. It's a very good exercise and helps in drawing daily.

Thank you Farvus, I guess we will be following each other for a good while

So here it is for today. No time for painting. While looking at my stuff, I still have lots of trouble with nose and lips... Gotta practice more.

Hey. Good job with those self portraits. I like those pencil ones.
I think there are sometimes problems with horizontal proportions Your head can be sometimes too wide or to narrow. Keep an eye on that .

I agree with that statement! I found much more difficult to focus on a drawing on paper, I tend to go to close of the drawing and I don't have any undo, and I still draw in a spasmatic mood. I'm gonna play around with different medium this week-end anyways.Gotta sharp my patience!

Good job. I like the last one.
When painting look for planes and where would you put boundary between them. Something like you did on for example day 32. There is well defined structure of the face beacause I can see exactly which surface gets the most light.
The last one has got better colours then previous ones but the planes are too blended and a bit random.

Check out gregpro's paintover to see what I'm talking about - http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=75768

Keep it up. I can also see some improvement

Farvus, I just don't want to spend to much time on it, but yea, I agree, is a bad habit because I do forget it for this reason I don't pay much attention to it....

For Day 62... did you draw this from a photo or in the mirror? And if you did it in the mirror, how did you split your face like that while you were drawing it? That's cool...

I like your latest one too, it's calm but sinister... looks like someone who knows his own strength so everyone else knows it too. But the eyes seem to be pointing in slightly different directions, one eye is looking right at me and the other one right through me... or is it just my imagination?

As for day 62, I did it from the mirror, and I wasnt very satisfied with the result so I painted and made some ''broken plane'' inside 3d's max and I then split it. And I agree I could have spend some more time into the last one, I still have some problem with eyes and specially when I try to add some distortion into a drawing, this might explain why the eyes are so fuck up, it wasnt intentional if you want to know.

The last one is interesting. I especially like the composition idea.
I think those two faces compete in which one has the main focal point. I don't know if that was intended but it can confuse the viewer.

    Keep posting

Aw, the eyes aren't f-ed up at all! It's just so tricky to draw eyes, because if they're off by even a millimetre or two, people will see right away that something's not quite on target, but if you make a similar (tiny) mistake with, say, the jawbone, it's much less noticeable...

Anyways this latest portrait is cool, especially the contrast between the warm and cool colours. Looking forward to tomorrow's!

Farvus: It was indeed intended, at first, my head (left) was more a 3/4 view from behind but it was much less apealing.

Arish: thanks, I agree with the eyes, I'm still learning everything and I'll try to be more carefull (or take more time) with that

here is for today, a quickie one i'm on the rush ^^

really not feeling being in front of the computer today. And I'm also out of a wacom. So here is a pencil one I did outside.

Yeah. It's sometimes good to stay away from computer and sketch with traditional media. No ctrl+z is healthy for your drawing skills .

The last one has nice texture. It almost looks like it was painted on a wall.

    Keep it up!
