Robert E. McGinnis (possibly nsfw, big DL)

This week I have mostly been getting my ass kicked by Mr Robert McGinnis.

I knew very little of his work until recently, I grew up with the film posters but I'd never seen the pulp covers, pinups and other stuff and I had no idea he'd done quite so many of them.
Anyway, I figured I'd post a few as they're rather groovy in my opinion.

He's a great one, that's for sure, and deserves to be. His range goes beyond the sexy dames he's famous for, for example:

Bumping this to pimp "Tapestry", a compilation of his work compiled by the "Spectrum" peeps, I got a copy for xmas and it's sweet

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tapestry-Pai...8610345&sr=8-2

It could do with being twice as thick but the print quality is great and it's only $30 or thereabouts, highly recommended.

Yeah, I ordered that and his book of his paperback cover work from Bud Plant a few weeks ago and they're both top notch.

That could be cool, but remember they're now up against the best here..

McGinnis sets the bar pretty high.

despite all the examples show, I never really thought of McGinnis as a pin-up artist. Something about how he paints his ladies just doesn't read "pin up" for me. They're sexual, but not necessarily sex objects, you know?

For me, that's probably because they look smart. The lights are on and someone is definitely home.

They're sexy but not "dumb tits'n'ass bimbo" style sexy.

My girl loves how McGinnis paints women and she wants some of them on the walls, I doubt that she'd feel the same about Royo, or (shudder) Cleavenger..

I think it's the difference between "Classy, sexy ladies" and "hot chix!11". Subtle dividing line, but it's definitely there..

Actually I agree with Dave...his was more of a lady painter..the grace and confidence is absent in....say ...vargas

What about George petty? his women had substance.
