A picture i finished not too long ago. The backgrounds a bit off but I was pretty happy with the characters overall. Lemme know whatcha think.

Those yellow highlights have no relationship to the moon, which I assume is supposed to be their light source. It would be better without them.

Just make the highlights not yellow? Or no sharp highlights?
I like the action poses.

Everything in your image seems to have been drawn by formula. That is, you’ve looked at other peoples’ art and come to the conclusion that “this is the way to draw a bent-over torso, this is the way to draw pine trees”, etc. If you would like to improve, you need to get to the source: draw from life.
There is a link in my sig called “Concept Art 101” that can help you improve.
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

Celarania: I appreciate the input, and i agree with everything you said. This was my first "true" attempt at drawing and coloring in Photoshop and i enjoy doing more lively compositions overall, the standing still poses just tend to get boring for me. Anatomy, i know i need work and have taken 2 life drawing classes that featured nude models, but havn't fully grasped it all.
Seedling: I agree with most of what you said, a lot of my inspiration came from how to draw manga books and anime in general. I havnt read these books in a long while, however they tend to stick with me. The original idea was to make the image lifelike, however i was having difficulties making the textures appear lifelike, so i caved and ended up with a more manga/anime style. I am playing with painter and have been more successful in achieving a more life like appearence in new images.
I am hoping to pick up another life drawing course just to keep refreshing me and pushing me to be better.
