    Puff the magic sketchbook **4/8/07**

Ahoy all, figured now that I've joined this merry little website I'd start uploading bits and bobs from my previous work. I'll throw in anything I can find for now and all the stuff I'm working on! Some of this stuff is really old, it's pretty much in order though. Cheers for taking a peek - all crit welcome.

Here's a bunch of 5 - 10 minute paintings I threw together as practice one night. I suck at environments so far so am trying to improve by doing a set of these super quick studies every couple of nights:

    whoa cool stuff!
I am glad I can be the first to post,
Great colors especially in the speed paintings, those are really great
AS far as crits go, the foreshortening on the guys right arm (the one with the gun) is off and not very convincing
And it would benefit you to have some stronger lines and maybe some more detail..
Overall very nice work, pretty cool stuff, keep it up and I will follow this thread!
It would be pretty cool if you could come comment on my SB, I would really appreciate it!

Cheers for the comments guys. That combine soldier piece (with the gun) was super quick but I'm planning on reworking it so I'll definately be adding detail, a background and fixing that arm. Plenty more to come...

Here's a few old lifedrawings from university days. Apologies for the terrible scan quality (also bear in mind some of these images were HUGE, in particular the first, so they may be several scans stuck together in Photoshop.

Oh and I just ordered some Bridgman books so hopefully there should be a significant improvement in a month or so.

dude you have some excellent lighting in that last piece, very inspiring work
It looks really good man. you have a nice stroke as far a pencil goes, you should try to go the old-fashioned way and do some detailed, finished pencil pieces
    jedininja
and i look forwards to the completion of the gunner piece
