Brian D's sketchbook of crap art

G'day. New member, reporting for... um... art. Stuff.

These are designs for an online comic, if I ever get it off the ground.

Feel free to tell me how I can stop being crap.

(First to last: Terran torpedo ship, one B. Williams wearing a Neutralising Exo Defence Suit, the most primitive evolutionarily-designed minion-bot of a supermind entity with a penchant for unusual technology and a predatory alien brachiator with badly cut-off tentacles)

Hi welcome to CA. This is definately the right place to come if you want to try and improve!

Your work isn't too bad, I've seen worse anyway lol! Nice colours, although try and steer away from the plain brightly coloured PhotoShop gradient style backgrounds.

It's good to see that you are focusing on the light source and trying to make the images look three dimentional.

It would be great to see some pencil studies or something as well as the PhotoShopped stuff too.

    Take care, ^_^

    Cx

Well first off to make your stuff not crap is to NOT CALL IT CRAP... there are way to many talented people around here that are so down on themselves... be confident in yourself and always strive to be better... there is a difference from being modest and being down on yourself!

No one likes a huge ego... but dont sound so suicidal! haha your goods arent crap... lets see some traditional media! This is a nice start to a SB!

Would a neutral grey or block colour be better for the backgrounds, then?

Pencil studies? As in, the original sketches for this sort of thing? I think I can find some of those...

[EDIT]: Traditional media? Okay, I'll post some of my pencil renderings. Does it matter if they're A: Tinted in Paintshop Pro and B: A couple years old?

[EDIT2]: Here you go. This stuff isn't for the comic, though. It was for a Half Life 2 mod that never even got the the coding stage - I underestimated the amount of time uni would take up...
