    Eye-Mind Coordination

Hello. I've been leaching and lurking for years. I think it's only fair to show what I've learned so far, and hopefully I can get better with some critiques from you geniuses.

So, as an introduction, here are some recent self portraits. One is oil and the other digital.

Vampirehungerstrike, huh? I guess that's good news for us humans.

Both well done, the digital one is best imo. Let's see some pencil work...

Thanks Piranha Clan. I don't use a pencil much anymore, though.

A monster thing from this weekend.

I really like your paints a lot, the strokes are nice, deliberate. Also agree that that digi in the first post is pretty awesome.

One thing though - everybody in your work looks really shiny. If that's stylistic, that's cool, otherwise, you might want to tone the hardness and intensity of the highlights so the flesh ends up a little more matte and less hard plastic-y

Thanks jMarkus. I haven't used OC in a long while, but I remember it being lots of fun. Have to check where it's hiding on my hard drive.

Kateoo, thank you very much. I have been accused of being too shiny in the past. I have to keep an eye on that. Ultimately, I'd like to keep the shine down to just a couple points of light on particularly shiny areas of the body.

Here's another I'm not going to finish. too stiff...bleh.

hmm liking how the first one posted there is looking. however the neck feels slightly thick, considering how narrow her face goes. be nice to see finished up though.

Thanks, AmiimA. I appreciate the critique.

I slightly widened her jaw and slightly narrowed her neck. Oh, and added color.

You really improved that last one. Watch the eyes though, her right eye's looking very heavy-lidded compared to her left.
I really like those inked head sketches from a couple posts ago, looks like you maybe like classic newspaper strips? Caniff or Wunder?
I also checked your site and deviantart link, awesome digital skills, man, but I'm with Piranha in wanting to see more traditional graphic stuff, especially after those head sketches. Just if you have 'em.

Ditto with all the nice comments already in this thread. I was looking for stuff to crit, but I couldn't think of anything looking at your pieces...ummmm maybe the slight paris hilton eye/broken nose on that last one? That's nitpicking really. I see stars appearing on this thread soon

    Thank you all!

Seaport: Thanks, I might revamp that pic yet. Needs major help though.

eskanto: Thank you. Yes, I am a goth fan.

Cory: I hadn't noticed, but yeah, she's unintentionally asymmetrical. I'll have to watch that. I'm not familiar with Caniff or Wunder; I'll have to look them up. I'm going to start sketching from life when I have time. Thanks for the feedback.

Xaya: Thank you. More to come.

    monstertree: Thank you very much.

    Thumbs up

    I love this one

it´s not stiff, it´s beautiful. maybe think of something nice for the background, something narrative perhaps, and add some graphic elements to it.
    just a suggestion tho, hehe

    keep up
